If you're looking for another legal series, Damages is the perfect antidote to Good Wife withdrawal. The unscrupulous firm in that series makes Kalinda's exploits look like the transgressions of a girl scout.

Suits - although a lot lighter could help with the withdrawls from an excellcent Legal show like Good Wife and would also second Damages (if you like your US shows to have a touch more depth)

I like all three of those series ark but I wouldn't necesessarily put the Good Wife in the same category as the others, it's a difference genre. Is it the focus on relationships and the interaction that appeals to you?

There was a US series called Once and Again about two divorcees who meet and then face the challenge of introducing their children and all the issues that go along with mixing two families. I think it won some awards, I thought it was excellent.

As we appear to have a similar taste here are some other suggestions (warning - some are a little quirky and quite old)

Men in Trees
Gilmore Girls
Providence
Everwood
Thirtysomething

Friday Night Lights. A bit dark, but the "family" aspect is very much a factor in the show.

Blue Bloods - Cop show that has the family element of Parenthood and B&S

Fairly Legal is a legal show, and though lighter than the Good Wife, is still pretty good.

Would also recommend Switched at Birth. Whilst more of a teen show (coming from ABC Family) is pretty good and is not totally dissimilar to Parenthood / B&S and I think it's as good as other adult dramas.

Friday Night Lights first three seasons were awesome. I'd recommend Bunheads as well though it is rather light and fluffy

without spoiling it for me ( I'm just two eps from the end of S2 currently and will then launch straight into S3 ). when you say the first 3 seasons of FNL's were awesome does that mean that you have yet to see the later series, or that there is a deterioration from S4 ?

As the team had mostly graduated by the end of S3, there was a major cast overhaul. Also they did something to make the team underdogs again, as they were in the movie. Some people hated the changes, I didn't mind. You just have to accept that there is a huge area of Dillon that simply wasn't mentioned in the first three seasons.

Revenge is quite good, but seeing as its shown on T4 is it a younger person's drama?

What about Six Feet Under or Mad Men?
I have just watched Desperate Housewives and enjoyed it, and I also loved Parenthood and The Good Wife.
Damages is one if the best ever TV shows, totally gripping.

Quite an obscure list there (apart from Gilmore Girls) - most arent listed in sky never miss, and expensive on amazon

Thanks for the suggestions

My "genre" is whatever I enjoy! All of these in the title, plus Damages are, to me, "semi-intelligent" drama, rather than US drama like friends. I cant really pin down what it is I enjoy, but the continuity from week to week. I laso enjoyed House and Greys Anatomy, not for the weekly stories but for the relationships and interactions between the main characters, the background story. Not sure if that makes any sense?

Mad Men I love, but as we are on virgin media, and it is on sky Atlantic - grrrrr

Desperate Housewives, enjoyed first series "what has happened to Mary Ellen mystery", couldnt get in to after that - to silly for my tastes

Ark, apart from Providence, they're all listed on 'sky never miss'. I added them on my list this week.
