Good evening to you all! This is my first thread.I am finding it impossible to get surround sound the hd channels.Ionly comes on with the Bbc Hd demo and from my blue ray player. I am beginning to think humax are being generous with their advertising. I am using hdmi and optical leads and any advise as to whether this is a fault please let me know.I notice other people have had the same problem.Also the inconsistant volume levels are really annoying.Perhaps I should have bought the samsung

Many HD programmes are only transmitted in Dolby Digital - Stereo. ITV1-HD never has 5.1. As you say the BBC-HD preview loop is all in 5.1.

Even Humax can't conjure up 5.1 if it's not in the broacast.

The stereo ones do have prologic surround which your amp should be able to use.

many thanks.I feel a little bit peaved as its not a problem for sky.
Humax lead you to think there is surround sound and i have spent hours on it and thank you so I dont waste anymore

Sky has exactly the same audio for the free to air content available on both platforms. It's the same broadcast. You get 5.1 on Skys own channels because you pay through the nose for it.

Is it not a case of you not understanding that it's nothing to do with Humax. Humax don't state anywhere that all channels will be received in 5.1.

I am not unhappy with the Humax and it is great not to put any more money in the sky pockets.I was a customer for twelve years.The yamaha ysp 2200 does go well with the humax and i get a great picture on a 37 " LG even though its slmost four years old.Thanks for your help.
