Matt Smith confirms that Doctor Who will air...

...in August! Apparently, to the best of his current knowledge, anyway.

So looks like 25th August it seems then. So looking forward to it! I've just rewatched series 5 and 6 with my housemate. I've introduced her to Matt Smith, she wasn't keen on watching him at first, but now she loves him lol. She was a David Tennant fan girl, but she also loved the show when she was growing up in the 80s. 6 weeks baby!!

Spoiler

When John asks Karen and Arthur about appearing for the anniversary they can't answer. Surely if they weren't then they could just say no?

In DW magazine a couple of months ago Moffat wrote a page saying they were going and never ever coming back. Ever. I thought at the time that he was laying it on far too thick; the impression I got from Moffat repeating over and over that they weren't coming back was that they definitely will be.

I stopped buying DWM recently so hadn't read that, so thanks. Yeah, sounds like they're making too big a deal of them never coming back for it to be true. I remember Karen saying she didn't want to keep coming back and she wanted people to remember her era as a good one and I believed it then but the way they keep going on about it, I'm not so sure now.

If they are going to pop up for the 50th then I'm happy for them. Having been in the show for three years they deserve to be part of it and it's unlucky that they're leaving the year before. But, them returning won't have much of an impact after just a year though and I think it could have the potential to therefore ruin their original exit, like Rose's return did. Especially since we've had them exit and go home for a while multiple times already.

Anyway, we don't even know if they actually are coming back so I'll stop rambling

Owing to a vastly convoluted series of spatio-temporal anomalies, Amy and Rory will be revealed as the working parts of the Myrka.

For those of us that will be on the wrong continent, does anybody know how soon after broadcast episodes usually appear in iTunes or any other shop?

They don't go on itunes UK for a week after broadcast, at least season 6 part 2 didn't. Would assume itunes UK don't see the point for the first week, it's on iplayer then.

Interesting about the "Ponds" possible return. Until now I hadn't even thought of them in connection with the 50th, but I'm now almost sure they will be in it.

Matt likes his headgear, doesn't he? Bowler hats are cool.

Karen's been very definite about not wanting to come back once she's left, so it's out of Moffat's hands if she doesn't change her mind! Maybe they'll appear in flashback or the briefest of cameos like everyone at the end of David Tennant's tenure...

ETA: Ok, I've watched John Barrowman interviewing Matt, Karen and Arthur now, Karen's a lot more evasive about the 50th anniversary than before...maybe she is willing to be in it after all!

Can't wait! Pity it's only 5 episodes, but no doubt they'll be brilliant ones!

I wonder if the BBC will actually wait a few weeks before airing the first episode ?
Autumn is officially September which is in line with Moffat's comments last year about its not right to have it on whilst having barbecues and children playing outside,

Personally it would have made sense to me to have it on from mid October getting all those dark nights and finishing perhaps just before Dec

Perhaps we are being given time to recover from the ponds exit ??? before the new companion.
