Superstar - Amanda Holden

I know a lot people were quite pessimistic about her being the presenter.

But I actually think she is doing okay!

Does anybody agree?

In the first couple of episodes she sounded like she'd been reading a 'how to present a talent show' manual. A poorly written one at that...not been able to bear to watch it since (might have a look at catch up later)

Dreadful! She's just fulfilling a vacuous role which could be enlivened by someone who has the brains/ability to ad-lib. I find her entrances with the 2 guys etc crass-she really is NOT a presenter.

As it stands, she just laughs uproariusly at the Lord's ahem *jokes*-paid sycophant really.

Amanda H is just the televisual equivalent of a trolley-dolly!

Perhaps she's hoping ALW will pick her for his next musical vehicle??

she is dreadful!! can she not walk down stairs on her own? her delivery is appalling and she has no empathy or humour - Graham Norton was brilliant on these things

I thought maybe if they had switched AH and DF's roles maybe it might flow better? (though ideally no AH at all IMO)

Davina Mccall would have been better-couldn't they stretch to a proper presenter

She is awful in the role. So fake and one dimensional.
Surely they could have found a real presenter.

She makes you realise just how good presenters like Dermot really are. The dozy mare can't even read an autocue properly and them when she tries to rectify it makes an even bigger cock up.

Last night she was woeful and I doubt she will be asked back. Let Kate Thornton have a go next time ( if there is a next time )

I quite like her. I don't think it makes any great difference who presents. At least she is sympathetic and empathetic with the contestants. She is an actress, after all, and has appeared in many stage shows singing and dancing herself, so she knows what auditioning is all about.

Amanda is just clueless - no idea on how to present - and the whole dated concept of being helped down the stairs - Tell her to wear lower heels if she is having problems walking in the stilettos

I'm sure it's not totally live so it would never happen, but I would laugh my leg off if she took a tumble.

Anyone who thinks she is showing empathy obviously doesn't see the false plastic shouty thing that I get on my TV.

I hate the way she proffers her cheek for a kiss, so unnatural and forced.

She's someone who made a name for herself by just being ...a name. Amazingly amateurish.

I thought she was suffering from a bad back or something last night. She looked like she'd had a brace or a very tight corset on that was pitching her forward and making her stance look very peculiar.

I think it was maybe the towering 6 inch heels. I love to watch her totter by herself over to the side of the judges panel. she bearly manages to walk 10 feet unaided.

i find her woeful at presenting and that way of walking down the stairs just makes her look as though she can't walk unaided!

It's the shouting that annoys me. She has a mic, why is she shouting! It's starting to feel like she is getting hysterical and is likely to implode at any given moment! She did look a bit like a barbie doll last night, it was all a bit odd really.

The attempt at a Brucie impression was cringey - thank goodness she doesn't have any others to try out

I agree with the person that said Dawn would have made a better presenter

Actually, I think Dawn French as a presenter is a fantastic idea. I'm not sure she really adds anything of real worth when she is judging so it would be good to combine the presenting with the comedian.
