Data Outage on Three

Hi,

Anyone having problems connecting to the internet on Three?

Since they acknowledged an internet outage during the morning of on Wednesday (18th July) access has been non-existent in my location (Central London). Got it to work for about 3 minutes this morning, but its gone again.

Its affecting my phone and broadband devices. C/S did the usual diagnostics yesterday, and said no issues in my area, but then had a recorded message mentioning internet connection issues later in the day.

After all the criticism of O2 recently, I'm surprised that this problem is not receiving more coverage!

I cant confirm if its a national outage, the recorded message just states 'some customers...' but customer services are now saying their engineers now require another 24 hours to resolve the issue.

I've never had any problems on the WEds, nor since. OP, have you tried re-booting your phone?

All the regular checks completed,on a number of devices. As mentioned, Three have a message saying there are probs with internet access...just the length of the outage is becoming a cause for concern.

Three customer services are now saying that an 'upgrade' has caused the outage, possibly up by tonight/or early tomorrow.

All networks seem to be doing some sort of network tweeking in time for Olympics, some with greater success than others!

Presumably from the responses its affecting some, not others.

This is a central London only issue according to Twitter. It's a data issue only by the sounds of it.

In addition to this, all international roaming services are down for Three customers.

If you're abroad, you won't be able to join any networks.

It's really a shame that their Twitter accounts are not monitored on the weekend, as a lot of people are complaining on Twitter and getting nowhere.

No updates from Three since Friday. All Twitter feeds close at 5pm Friday. Only by calling 333 customer services gets you more info. Very disappointing silence all round really. Nothing on website either.

For the last few days, three mobile broadband has been broken in a number of places in SW London. I noticed it not working a few days ago on the train into work - access is down between just beyond Wimbledon through to Vauxhall.

We met some friends in Mortlake today, and I noticed that it also doesn't work in Mortlake or Putney.

...all places with good service normally.

Yet it does work at Waterloo and Wimbledon, Raynes Park etc.

I switched to 3 a few months back, and the peak service on the train out of Waterloo is usually far better than vodafone, which always got totally saturated. However, for the last few days it's been dead as a doornail.

Where three are really failing is communicating the issue. I've had nothing from the company to say that there's a major outage. Even trying to find a page on the website which describes service issiues is hard. I gave up in the end.

There's a message on the phone lines when you call 333 which is a free call.

It's data only, and it only seems to be certain areas of London that are effected. I'm sure it will be back up and running soon. I think all networks are doing work in London at the moment, this upgrade seems to have gone wrong, which means that certain areas of London are without data.

Three in Swansea is being throttled I assume, unless it is part of the upgade process. Dialup downloads speeds are not normal for what I am paying for.

Have you called 3? an issue in Glasgow is unlikely to be related to the bad upgrade in London that is now fixed.

It wasn't a 24 hour national call text and data outage like the one on O2, it was only certain areas of London and it only affected data.

Yes, but compensation remember!! I'm sure there must be someone who was extremely inconvenienced by not being able to send a facebook message to their mate asking who they got off with over the weekend!!

I've not had any problems with Three throtteling speeds in Swansea area. Downloads are still the same speed for me.

If the entire service, calls, texts and data had been down nationally then yes I don't think people should have to pay their full bill and should be compensated. However it was a small number of people in a local area and it only affected data.

Three's standard policy is to simply refund the line rental for the days that the service didn't work.

e.g. if you pay £30 a month and there are 30 days in that month, then you'd get £1 back for every day it didn't work.

I'm not talking about being refunded. I'm talking about some of the silly things people were demanding the other week from o2. On the radio an o2 employee said how one person who was due to renew their contract demanded an iPhone for free with half price rental as compensation because of the outage.

Compensation!!!!!!

Did he get it?

People forget they are only on a consumer product. If you lose business from it, you shouldn't be using the mobile for your business in the first place!
