I'm glad Stella threw karl out, but it was wrong of Stella to humiliate Dev, by telling him that his girlfriend Sunita had cheated with her man Karl infront of neighbours such as Tracey,Emily and Norris when he was the innocent part in this. She should have taken him aside and then told him.

Stella wanted to humiliate Sunitarse and what better way than in front of all the neighbours she serves in the shop?! Stella wasnt telling anyone herbusiness, she was airing Sunitarse's dirty laundry not her own. Stella's done nothing shameful so why not tell all and sundry you caught your so called 'mate' with her undies down with your partner - its their actions your letting everyone in earshot know not yours. Dev has done nothing wrong either so needent feel humiliated as most would proberbly feel sorry for him being cheated on and not try to make him feel worse.

Both stupid lines, both meaningless.

How can anyone be impressed by them.

I'm surprised Stella got away with saying 'slag' before the watershed. Sunita deserved everything she got and less. It's like she enjoys being a 'homewrecker'.

Loved seeing Sunita getting a smack. Was so realistic too! She deserved it for deleting the text alone...sneaky conniving bitch!

But surely the point is that Dev may have chosen to talk it through with Sunita and try to make a go of the relationship without anyone knowing their private business. Now everybody knows and he'll always be 'Dev the cuckold' and people will either pity him or despise him for taking Sunita back, should he do so.

What an awesome thread - shame you didn't include a poll alienpanda

Well, as some of you will know, "I 'ate you you rotten, cowin' tart!" is one of my all-time favourite lines, so my vote goes to Dawn Action et al

yeh. felt for him, and the kids. But all Sunita's fault, not Stella's.

It tends to be 'You tart' in the northern soaps and 'You slag' in Eastenders.

Maybe, but however much they try to 'keep it to themselves' if Stella decided to tell everyone who came in to the pub what, or rather who Karl had been doing, the whole street would know anyway, so would still either pity or despise him. At least this way, Sunitarse got the proper humiliation she deserved - THAT slap being one!

In the episode after that there's a brilliant moment when Ken is supposed to be offering Deirdre sympathy in the Rovers:

Deirdre: Things are difficult with girls that age, I know they are. I do find it difficult, but I was finding it difficult enough before that bloody woman waded in and told Tracy all about me and Mike Baldwin. She just handed her a great big stick to beat me with.
Ken: ...yes, pity you couldn't have thought about that before you slept with him.

The look on Deirdre's face is priceless!

Hahaha!

I probably saw it back in the day but was only about 7 so would not have remembered the line. I do remember Tracy being an absolute nightmare though.

Interesting that we have a message pinned to the top of this board about profanities and name calling yet soaps positively encourage it. They would not however insult Sunita on the basis of her race or the colour of her skin by using the line "giddy little ***) yet feel free to use sexist, if not misogynistic, terms. Had the term *** been used or even 'black' then Corrie would be accused of inciting hate crime.
