My personal view on Carl is that with everything he has witnessed they are trying to carve his character into a bit of a sociopath. One void of emotions so that he can cope with the tremendous loss all around him. Les face it, the apocalypse is not a normal environment for a child to grow up in so his character has to evolve quicker in order to survive. He'll be a gun toting kid, slaying walkers until the sun comes up (or until he dies, whichever comes first).

The last two episodes of this series are awesome, probably the best finale of a season of anything I have ever seen !!

Enjoy peeps

Whilst I've enjoyed the show I have found the pace extremely slow. One episode sometimes only covers 1 day!

The show will miss him more than Shane. Terrific actor.

De Munn has joined Frank Darabont in his new television project though so that could give it some creedance.
I've also heard the Dale wanted out due to Darabont leaving story. Dale was a great character imo and was so sad the way he died. Would have been nice if he went out the same way as the comic book.

Can anyone see Herschel replace Dale as the older, wiser fellow of the group now? It is great how much his character has changed now, from believing that walkers could be saved to not caring about Randall, who isn't infected and doesn't want to know about them killing him.

I really liked him as Sam Braun in CSI and hope that he stays in it.

I am sure that he would have told Rick or Shane about the walker nearly getting free from the mud but seemed intrigued by him, almost wanting to study him. Yet he was so adamant about Rick killing Randall.

I think I might be the only person who was pretty convinced Dale was going to die in that episode, but I thought he was heading out to kill himself when he was walking in the fields. Didn't expect him to get disembowelled by a zombie.

I wanted to give Carl a good kicking too. I think if Rick's lucky him and Lori will both get eaten (In Lori's case becoming a walker will probably provide the first decent meal she's had in years).

Yes! It took a few weeks for me to see him as herchel rather than sam but now i think he could be a good asset if hes willing to leave the farm.

Im intrigued how dale died in the comics? I thought he was going off to shoot himself thinking randall had been killed.

I thought for a short while that the Cow he was looking at had become infected with the Zombie virus rather than just being eaten by them.

Found it a bit unrealistic that the zombie was able to open Dale's stomach with his hands though.

Me too. I thought they were going along the route of all the animals being infected therefore less food as they arent safe to eat. Im glad they didnt decide to make the cows zombies.

Im looking forward to the last two eps and season three. Hopefully it will be on channel five but if not ill have to get the dvds!

I did find it odd that the Walker was close by and Dale didn't hear or suspect anything. It was dark (maybe he didnt have much light) but it was also very quiet.

I think he was shocked at seeing the cow ripped open on what they thought was a safe farm. Poor dale, i wish he had time to react and shoot it!

But Dale had to approach the cow, it's not like he walked around a corner and there was the cow and walker waiting. There were no trees close by which means the walker should not have been too far away. I know it's minor detail but it bugs me as i wish Dale had a better ending. He was such a nice person and he saved Andrea back in S1, he deserved much better.

The walkers don't take into consideration on who's a nice person. Or who deserves better. Dale was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was just unlucky.

Think it would have been better if they showed Dale as walker after he was attacked and then shot.

I find Carl quite plausible. I'm willing to cut him a lot of slack because of the circumstances, and especially his terrible parents. Neither of them have any time for him, and when they do it's mostly to treat him as a baby. He took the gun because he understood he has a need for self-defence.

I don't see tormenting the zombie as being in quite the same category as pulling the wings off flies. I can understand him wanting to explore. He has no-one his own age to play with now. He can see what needs to be done, even if he's not yet quite up to doing it. Some things are easier to talk about than to do.

I'm pretty sure they know the farm isn't safe. They keep a watch from the top of the camper van, most of the time.

I wasn't a fan of Dale. It annoyed me when he took Andrea's weapon away from her. He had no authority to do that. The way he dealt with their prisoner was poor. He said they shouldn't kill him, but didn't come up with any alternative. He didn't present logical arguments, he just made ex-cathedra pronouncements.

I understand that, i'm miffed that Mazzara didn't write him a better way to go out.

Back in S1 Andrea was happy to kill herself and Dale convinced her otherwise and she relised that he saved her. He took the gun off her because he was afraid she would do something similar again. He's looking out for her, not trying to control what so can and can't do. Not that it matters now anyway.

I'm a little bit disappointed by the message you can take from this weeks episode of the Walking Dead

IE If you're a liberal and you want to debate every action and question authority, in the end it'll get you killed, so just shut up and do what those in charge want because in the end they know what's best for you.

Maybe I'm taking that argument too far but Dale was the main representative of the "questioning" type of person and its interesting they singled out him to be killed and not the alpha male officers of the law, shoot first ask questions later types.

I mean, how dare he have a problem with murdering another human being..

If the writers wanted to make this less of a moral debate and side with Rick and Shane about killing the boy they should've presented him as a lot more evil that they've put him across.
ATM there's too much of a moral grey area to make us think killing a live human being, especially in a world where there are so few humans left, is a good thing for characters we're supposed to root for.

Rick, Carl, Lori, Dale, just realised how many characters in TWD have 4 letter names.

Does T-Dog count too?

As a name or a character?

I'd say no to both
