Hey Sid - shame you can't make it tomorrow but will look forward to your review / comments later.

On the subject of Olympics, I'm in massive denial. Well, as much as I can be living so close to some of the venues in London. I've a feeling I may get a lot of reading done!

Now that the next book is on its way, time to think of our next theme?

Has foreign literature been considered before?

Or books by a particular author?

Feel like we are running out of genres...

Well we can start repeating ourselves. We have done well to be so varied so far.
Or we could allow each of us to choose in turn (we know each other quite well so would probably be ok)

Or just another thought re choosing a book

We are selected in turn (maybe a mod could pick one of our names out of a hat)

Person picked selects 3 books they want to read - any genre or 3 different genres

Everyone votes for their favourite!

Hi everyone

Well we have had three people voting and 6 different books - so 3 have 2 points and 3 have 1 point!

Would someone who hasn't voted please vote and they can be the tie-breaker

Great! The Alexandre Dumas Kindle collection I was looking at went on sale and so I got The Black Tulip with a bunch of his other stuff for only 99 cents.

I'm a little nervous about the suggestion for rotating the leadership, but then again I'm never tried to organize the reading of the month, either.

Excellent! I couldn't download the kindle version for my iPad via the UK Amazon site so I've downloaded for 99p from iBooks.

Whats making you nervous syramu? Would you prefer to try and pick a genre or do you want to give this a shot ?

If we are looking for another genre, how about American Literature?

I'm just weird.

American Literature would be an okay topic, lots to choose from.

I would suggest we try out different national literatures (so, one month the US, maybe another Canada, then Brazil, etc.), but unfortunately a lot of countries don't have much writing that's readily available.

I'm wondering if the club has run its course? We only have a few regular readers and it seems to be getting harder to get topics etc. Also we seem to be letting more time drift between reads.

I am more than happy to still be involved but are we flogging a dead horse ?

Yes it does seem to have all gone very quiet. I'm just back from a break myself so have not really been contributing lately so maybe people are taking summer breaks. It would be such a shame for the finish the club. I'm happy to continue if others are.

Hi guys! Hope you're all keeping well

I got totally sucked into the Olympics and then Big Brother (no laughing!) and I couldn't get into reading for a while.

But I'm back and willing to carry on if others are.....I tend to read more in Autumn/Winter.

I don't mind if the pace is quite slow though. It suits me better to be honest. And there's no harm in repeating genres we've already visited if we're struggling to come up with new ones.

I think summertime tends to slow us down. I, too, would hate for the book club to end.

I don't mind repeating genres. There's no reason it has to be completely new every time we choose a book.

I think that's a great idea. I have to admit that I haven't really made much headway with the latest book. I've been too busy reading trash or like Sid, watching the Olympics. I think I will need a couple of weeks at least.
