It might be an idea to remember that times are tough at the moment and not everyone can afford to shop at Waitrose or the Harvey Nicholls food hall. There's absoloutley nothing wrong with Iceland, they sell branded stuff as well as their own makes. I like their pizza and their curry sauce.

Hey and guess what ive been know to frequent Farmfoods and Aldi as well, and you know what I dont give a flying stuff what anyone else thinks. I know im not a chav. But if im honest I'd rather be one than a sneering snob.
Where do you buy your vodka from?

Have you ever been in waitrose? Because your post indicates you haven't if you're categorising with Harvey nic's food hall!! They aren't even in the same ball park. Those that frequent waitrose will know they frequently brand match with tesco, not to mention their great value essentials range, so they are pretty much just another supermarket, except the service is far better than tesco and the like and the wine section in my local store is more extensive than the other local supermarkets.

Waitrose isn't just another supermarket - it depends what you go there for. I go there specifically for organic meat & dairy produce - they have a far wider selection than any other supermarket. You can't buy Soil Assocation approved eggs in any other supermarket, nor organic chicken liver, free-range pork steaks, organic burgers etc etc...

It is a supermarket, hence why you can check its products on mysupermarket website. Just because they sell additional products does not make it any less so. If I only bought a newspaper from tesco, it wouldn't make it a news agents instead of a supermarket just because I only chose to buy that one product from there.

I dont buy my meat from supermarkets in any case, I use my butcher, that way I know where it's all been sourced from. Meat and fish are not worth buying from supermarkets.

I like their massive 2 pound bag of potatoes, frozen veg and their Irish sausages.

The people in my local Iceland seem to be a lot fatter than those I see in my local sainsburys.

Hold up, hold up, hold up.

How can you bash a supermarket that sells Greggs pasties?

With everything written about the horse meat scandal, I would say the everything negative written in this thread back in 2009 was very true and very prophetic.

Everyone needs to switch to Organic meat, free of antibiotics and organic vegetables free of pesticide. 80 percent of the world's antibiotics are used in meat.

Even the Iceland boss has recent come out and said he wouldn't buy meat from Iceland as it's cheap and low quality.

It's okay to get some branded offers at Iceland or the occsasional cheap pizza but shop elsewhere if you value your health.

How judgmental. Not everyone who shops in Iceland is a chav. I happen to like their foods. Why shop in sainsburys when they rip you off constantly?

It depends how you define being ripped off. Sainsburys is more expensive for own brand stuff, but the quality is a little higher as well. You get what you pay for.

I like their spicy beanburgers, their potato waffles, and their own-brand veggie mince. Nothing wrong with them.

You must be familiar with 'rocky roads' to know what they look like.

Actually ignore my first statement and answer me what the hell is in rocky road that you can't just make some yourself at home out of ingredients.

For someone who wouldn't shop in Iceland if paid you too seem to be au fait with their products.

Wouldn't your imagination be better employed empathising with those who have no option but to seek out cheaper alternatives to Waitrose and M&S?

Enjoy your horsemeat!

You mean such as Findus and Birds Eye - where the horse meat scandal started?

Why do you need a quote? Iceland was implicated in the horsemeat scandal. It's cheap mass produced crap for chavs-you only need to see who does their adverts to know that.

Can you buy beef sausages containing pork anywhere else?

I shopped in Iceland a few times, but mainly bought things like Bisto gravy or the Kingsmill bread, sometimes fish fingers. I bought once their fresh chicken legs but found them very skinny so didn't bother with them again.
I never bought their party food or their own frozen range so can't comment on that; their own stuff doesn't look very appetising anyway.
I tend to shop where it's cheaper or closest to my house and in Iceland some branded stuff it's cheaper than in other supermarkets so that's why I happened to go in there sometimes. I haven't been to Iceland for months now.

Overall I'm not keen on Iceland food but that's mainly because I don't really buy frozen, pre prepared food.
I have tried their duck spring rolls however, and I like them.
To call someone a chav for shopping there is beyond snobby. Seriously I don't know who the hell some of you gimps think you are!

I take it you didn't read the article then

'I don't eat value food because it doesn't contain much meat': Boss of budget supermarket Iceland in shock claim as Waitrose chief warns of cheap food risks

‘Iceland has never sold economy products – we do not sell cheap food,’ he said.

it doesn't say once he wouldn't eat Iceland's food.

That's irrelevant. If their own management is slagging them off I'd like to read it, unless of course it didn't happen.
