most boring books I have ever read in truth, but I will not be dictated to by someone who has take an hysterical approach to critically appraising a work of pure fiction. It works for some and not others but people should not be looked down upon fo enjoying something that someone else feels is tasteful or enjoyble, that goes for sex, relationships and complete works of fiction.

I just want to say, I am in no way a troll, and I just want to point out my post about being sexually assaulted, my doctor has had to refer me for trauma therapy because of this, I have suffered for the last 19 years from post traumatic stress disorder and the thing that triggered my memories was this book, people have been sending me emails telling me things, sending me sentences and even paragraphs from this book, I feel as if I have read the whole book, I was even sent the synopsis, I would like people to believe me so they can understand how serious sexual assaults really are, I would not wish this pain and suffering on anyone, it has ruined my life. But as long as you think I am attacking this book you will never understand what I am talking about, I am in no way against people reading what they want, each to their own, whatever interests you, but this book in some ways has done me a favour and made me go for the help I needed.

You're perfectly entitled to your own reaction to the book. |

I just felt the need to elaborate that's all, and that was the only way I knew how, I didn't think I was trolling, but I wasn't sure whether people were taking my posts seriously, they may have thought I had made them problems up to rubbish the book, and that wasn't my intention. As I said it has done me a favour and I am pleased I am going to get the help I deserve.

Ana was subconsciously attracted to Christian's wealth, as was the author and lets be honest, if the book was about a plumber it wouldn't have sold so many copies. Money absolves his behaviour. Just because she buys herself a cheap ankle bracelet on honeymoon doesn't mean she is free. Money is the unseen shackle in this story, as potent as anything in the playroom.,

That's not how I saw it at all. I agree with you that the money aspect helped the book's popularity - I for one am more entertained reading about a billionaire's lifestyle than a plumber's lol - but I didn't see it as a potent force in their relationship, in fact quite the opposite on Ana's part. What about in the early stages when he buys her the MacBook and wants to replace her clapped out old car but she doesn't want to take gifts from him?

Possibly not
but I was in a heady relationship once and got engaged after knowing him for only six weeks; but I didn't ever lose sight of who I am and what I believed in. To me Ana does and to me that lessens her in my eyes.Oh and in case your wondering, we celebrate our silver wedding this year. Then again perhaps because I got swept off my feet as a 21 year old, I don't need to experience it through this or any other book, so 50 shades doesn't work so well for me. |

Congratulations on silver wedding, now days people don't seem to want to work at marriage like years ago I know marriage can be hard work as my Nan used to say "it's no picnic" Ooo Blimey I'm imagining what she'd have to say about 50 shades -she thought this generation were sex mad as it was haha she would of had a right rant about it

Me and a friend were discussing this the other day in the queue at the post office, we both said what a load of rubbish it was and then she said ' I'm not into all that M & S

There's a copy on the cupboard next to my desk at work that somebody's brought in and invited us to borrow. The tin of London 2012 biscuits next to it is generating more interest.
At least we've got taste.
