As well as customers on older/discontinued tariffs who, if they were moved away from them, would not be able to switch back again. The simple fact is that there's no one size fits all measure, therefore people have to be left to make their own choices when their contract ends. |

Contacting the customer in advance of their contract expiration & offering them alternatives would be nice but again the mobile networks prefer to rely on their customers' inertia & keep them paying the high monthly fee even when the handset cost has been recovered over the minimum contract period.

I would be absolutely furious if a company were to switch me to some random payg scheme rather than rolling my contract forward on a monthly basis once the initial period has expired.
