Intermittent Signal Loss - Heat??
Been recording / watching the 20/20 cricket Qtr. Finals on Tuesday and Wednesday (Sky Sports 2 HD). Both days I experienced intermittent but regular signal loss, freezing and pixilation for a couple of seconds complete with the information banner to backup to continue. Anyone else in the same boat? Would this be due to the sudden execptional hot weather down here in the South East? Just wanted to touch base before I start poking around or arranging a call out. Cannot provide any other details as to other channels as we did not watch anything else other than some other pre-recorded stuff from a few weeks or days before the heat wave!! Amstrad 1Tb box.

I must admit I have been getting the odd glitch, where it momentarilly pixellates. No "Loss of signal" banner though. Less than a second each time. Only now and again though.
Mainly on BBC1 HD and Sky News HD 1TB box. |

Can you test the LNB for temperature sensitivity by spraying it with cold water?
http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/no_signal_sunshine.htm Also try aiming a small, portable fan at the Digibox in case it's overheating. |

Not really, dish is strapped to my chimney pot way up on the roof!! All seems to have settled down again now that the temperatures are back to more normal levels. Trouble with live OB's is that there can also be issues at the broadcast end, or like yesterday, thunderstorms elsewhere, but not directly overhead which can give you a blue screen for a few minutes!!I was watching the cricket from recordings (approx 1 hour in delay) so that's why I was seeing the warning banner, which I guess does not appear "live". Recorded 3 or 4 other progs around the same time and these all have a tag saying technical fault, but did record completely with the same problems. |

My satellite signal often drops out during a heavy shower, I've tried putting a bin bag around the dish to protect it but to no avail.
