Get rid of dog urine smell outdoors

With the hot weather we've been having, our doors have been open & our dog has been running in & out the house a lot. He's been peeing in the front garden on the stones & the smell is really bad. What's the best way of getting rid of the smell?

He goes frequent walks & pees when he's out but he's been drinking a lot more water to keep hydrated so he pees more

We have the same problem, our lazy mutt likes to go right outside the back door (obviously too much effort to go further down the garden!)

We just hose the area down and throw lots of disinfectant down, usually a supermarket own brand of dettol. It gets rid of the smell and is pretty cheap.

There's a product called "simple solution" available in pets at home, it breaks down the deposits left behind by the urine and removes the smell

good stuff really, we had it when our older dog became incontinent.

something else you could use is a biological washing powder mixed into a solution (more recommended for cat pee, i believe but it should work)

Thank you. I'll be there first thing tomorrow!

Thanks, will have a look in there today. I may have a bottle of dettol in a cupboard somewhere so I'll give that a go too

Laminate flooring and a strong disinfectant.

You can buy products that absorb the smell such as a mix of bicarb and cornflour. or white vinegar.

Recipes online.

We have just discovered watering the area with zoflora works, but wait until it dries before allowing the dog back onto it as it won't do them any good to come into contact with it.

Outside we use Jeye's fluid. Inside when puppy has an accident I use Byofresh, breaks down the smelly pee bacteria and enzymes.

Bleach will kill the germs but doesn't break down the urine.

White vinegar does, McGee kept peeing ounthe cupboard when we first got him, he decided it was his piss spot, and we tried white vinegar and it worked, he doesn't pee there or inside any ore.

Does white vinegar help with puppy discouragement to poo under my kitchen table? Or can anyone recommend another product?
Right now there are puppy pads down, which is stopping ruining my floor but I would prefer to train her outside. She is being trained right now( 10 weeks old) so all tips welcomed

Jeyes Fluid works best - you can get it in a spray bottle now, so you don't need to dilute from a bottle. Few squirts and all done

Puppy pads are a bit confusing for dogs. Sometimes they think they are allowed to pee on anything soft, so you could find pee on your bathroom mat/bed/rugs etc. Being strict and taking them out every hour for a pee when they are very young is the best way. No mixed messages and they catch on quickly.

You get a spray that smells like pee to dogs and then you can spray it on the spot outside that you want to be their toilet, apparently that teaches them to go outside although I haven't used it myself.

Also have the problem indoors, our naughty little dog decided to have a whizz on our deep pile rug probably thought we wouldn't notice but with it being summer and hot it was a case of "sniff sniff whats that smell?" and then the offending whizzbeast knew the game was up and did the guilty look, suffice to say I've carpet washed it, steamed cleaned it, put baking soda on it...and just can't get rid of the whiff! ....

YorkshireKat - look into the simple solution, it's designed precisely for your problem

douse the area with it and allow it to dry naturally, should work a treat

found out the name of it and it's actually called "urine destroyer"!

they've changed the bottle since i last bought it too - used to be in a clear one, now everything is in opaque green vessels

hope it works for you

As someone said you need to break down the urine. If it's on gravel type stones you might need to shovel them up and treat underneath too. That's what we had to do when they were pups as the smell still lingered.

I found this, it's on about carpets, but I'm sure the vinegar and baking soda will help outside too
