I hope The Ponds are allowed to have more fun and just be plain old companions, if that makes sense, and I hope Matt Smith is given far more action to do than he has been.

Come on Moffatola restore my faith.

But a stunning trailer.
Toally agree with this ^ ! I want to see Amy & Rory as NORMAL companions, not part of a timey - thing nor a dead person coming back! That story-telling has been done to death! Matt needs to calm down with his hyper-active arms too! It's a good trait - but a bit OTT And I hope they change that awful theme music!! The RTD one was much more impressive.

Apart from that - it looks OK! As long as they stick to 'complete stories' and not a continuous silly arc!

Not too fussy am I?

I think if she was going to be in the opening episode, it would've well been spoilered by now.
She might be in the second half of the series, so she meets the new companion

Yeah, that I do believe will happen and I do want an interaction with River and the new companion but I think for the episodes airing this year, it's probably just 7x05 she'll be in.

So much for Steven Moffat saying last year that the Daleks were going to be rested for a while... great to see them backtrack on this and bring them back so quickly!!!

I think it depends on where the asylum is and what exactly it is. If the Dalek in 'Dalek' couldn't detect them, how come? Especially as there are older variations there.

I suspect we won't get a definitive answer, but I'm looking forward to finding out!

Apart from the tiniest appearance from them in The Wedding Of River Song, they have been rested for a while now.

I don't think it will be a let down, not just this episode, but the entire series.
For three reasons. One, Matt Smith has really settled into the role, and plays an excellent darker Doctor.
Two, contrary to what some posters may think. I do believe that Steven Moffat has listened to some of the criticism of the past two series and decided to change Doctor Who so it appeals to all people, not just the hardcore fans.
Three, having watched the trailers and reading some spoilers. It seems that instead of the past over complicated story lines that did baffle some people on here ( remember the arguements over The Big Bang ). It looks like we are getting some good old fashioned action and adventure. Pure escapism, which I like on a Saturday night

Look carefully at the trailer. There are the bronze daleks from Russell T. Davies tenure, and in the background: New Paradigm daleks.

"Asylum" means refuge, so this is where the daleks escaped to. Simples.

I agree. There better be a good reason he's alive as waffling on breaks any tension & shouldnt be permitted

Re: daleks not shooting - even the doctors a bit puzzled. He asks in the trailer: "Well what are you waiting for? Here I am. You got me!" (or pretty similar). So presumably the Daleks not shooting straight away is going to be plot driven.

Even the 1st September is 3 whole weeks before the official start of Autumn on the 22nd! If the series were to actually
start on 1st September we'd have the first 3 episodes in late Summer, when there's still some daylight in early evening.

Episodes 4 and 5 would essentially be the only episodes to be aired during Autumn, then we'd have nearly 3 months
before this year's Christmas episode when the new companion enters the TARDIS, during the first week of Winter!

Interestingly, pause it at 0:12. The Daleks have their guns and plungers swapped around from the usual position... perhaps a visual clue these are the mad ones locked up in the asylum?
Maybe it's just a mirrored shot in the trailer and is the right way around in the episode?

Please stop this right now (but you won't, I'm never listened to!)

I've witnessed this exact same debate in the Red Dwarf forum over the suspected due date of a trailer for series 10 and the anal behavior of some fans beggars belief.
Doug Naylor tweeted "mid July" so some people took that as literally meaning "July 15th" so when the trailer didn't air until July 21st or something it was already too late as the thread was awash with petty bickering over exactly what "mid july" could be interpreted as...*sigh*

Don't do that here...please.
It's stated informally to give the producers and the BBC some wiggle room: IE They probably have a target date, but they just can't be sure yet!

Good-o

One thing is interesting though, why would he mention The victims of The Master unless he was round up that episode's threat in a kind of "this is what we've fought thus far this year, first the Daleks and then the Master" kind of way?

The Master is responsible for the Daleks being locked in an asylum?
The Master releases a ship full of Dinosaurs?

And why would they specifically put a line referencing the Master into a trailer if it wasn't to start idle speculation and remind the population about the character before a potential return?

Oh wait, hang on, they're not above pointlessly writing the cybermen into an episode just so they can put them in a trailer to gain more ratings are they?
This is probably a massive red herring in that case

As far as I'm aware, with regards to television scheduling, Autumn starts on 1st September.
The autumnal equinox is the technical start date of autumn, but that's being very pedantic.

Is it me, or when Rory asks how much trouble their in, does it look like their inside a big Dalek? Like, when their looking at the Dalek ships, their looking through rows, like the section between the daleks dome and the rest of it

People are also forgetting that in 2 weeks the first episode is getting advance screenings and no way will the televised episode be delayed for too long in fear of it leaking out.

Perhaps they are sneaking in inside of a big Trojan Dalek?

Beware of Timelords bearing gifts.

The only thing that did surprise me a little about the trailer was the complete lack of Dalek dialogue. Maybe it'd give too much away?

Traditionally for Britain, Autumn starts in late August.
