This is total deception

If I was a housemate thinking I was in it to win a prize fund of £100k and then suddenly be told it was actually half that amount, I would be fuming and feel totally cheated.

This is not on and Channel 5 should do the right thing and keep the main prize fund as it is supposed to be. They have made a right mess of this, so should pay the 50k out of their own pockets.

I have never heard of this happening on any other shows when the prize fund suddenly changes to suit.

What a load of rubbish.

It's nothing new for Big Brother, it's happened before and will probably happen again. Last year it happened, it happened in BB8 (Eugene took half the prize money).

They keep changing every rule... nothing is sacred anymore in Big Brother which is a farce.

They're allowed to by the ridiculous, pathetic, cheat line :

"Big Brother has the right to change the rules at anytime"

If anyone complains, they will just get the standard response

"Big Brother reserves the right to change the rules at any time!"

So basically they can (and do) just make it up as they go along to suit themselves, and get the public to fund it!

it sure is wrong, the winner should always get more than the runner up, but its not even being given to a runner up its being given (maybe) to a thug.

The number of these types of threads are confusing.

Has this series of BB attracted lots of new fans?

Or do people just have REALLY short memories?

The last prize money twist was last year, it's not like it was back in BB2.

Stop getting attached to certain housemates and you will enjoy the show, honestly.

If not just don't watch it no1 is making you!

If Eugene hadn't taken the money though, the prize would've been doubled, and he would still have been in with a shot of winning it.

The thing that annoys me most is there's no "who goes, you decide". They've taken away the one thing that makes BB semi-legit.

I hope word gets out about the stupid 'team' who sank Big Brother....and they never work again on TV.

Just because their chosen one couldn't win, they give him a fifty fifty shot at taking HALF the prize fund.

The public have been wasting their money voting.

Prize money twists have been dreadful all the time.

Just something they just HOPE does well for them, and backfires almost every time.

Opens up the route to criticism too, as it shows they want some of their favourites to get some money as they finally realise they wont win.

They wanted Jay McKray to win last year (editing out his freezer incident, playing down his violent outbursts, vile language etc)... they then realised he had no chance with Aarons amazing fanbase, and threw a money twist in to make sure he left with some money

Big difference though as a random HM went into the diary room:-

Quote:
About one hour after Craig was evicted, Big Brother called a housemate to the Diary Room and Eugene was first to respond. He sat down behind a suitcase containing £50,000 in cash - half the actual winner's prize money. Big Brother told him he had the option of winning this half of the prize, leaving the other half for the winner. Big Brother told the remaining housemates that if he turned down the money, the prize money would double to £200,000. Eugene was given one minute to make to his decision while he was watched on screen by the rest of the housemates. After about 50 seconds, Eugene had made his decision and chose to take the £50,000.

I know this happens in Big Brother, and what I mean is that it doesn't happen in any other show except big brother. And no, I am not a new fan. Been watching this rubbish for years!

What really gets to me though, is that they have nothing to gain by refusing the money! Even if they did go on to win the whole thing, they will only break even with the guaranteed £50k they could have had, so why be stupid and risk it and not take the money!

The whole thing is just stupid for want of a better word!

Nothing to do with being attached to a certain housemate. Its about them deceiving everyone to think the prize money is 100k for the winner - how can the winner feel special like this?

I think BB should change it to 5K and say it was a typo.

Hit the nail on the head right there.

There is is absolutely no sensible reason NOT to take the money.

But if you call someone to the diary room it's random who goes, not like this current farce

It is also a tad farcical that voting is currently closed????

I thought the phone lines were open 24/7

and.......

Why is there still a link on the page to purchase FB votes if FB is no longer a voting option?

http://www.channel5.com/bigbrother

The manipulation of the show and treatment of viewers as stupid has been shocking this year.

This is the final straw.
