Shaving legs
Which lasts longer - an electric shaver or epilator?
Has anyone ever used a wet & dry epilator? Is so is it better than a dry epilator as I bought one last year but couldn't use it as it was so painful. I'm going on holiday so want to use what lasts longest Thanks |

Epilators last much longer as they are removing the hair rather than just cutting it.
I know they can be really painful at first but if you persevere with it the pain does lessen to a much more bearable level. |

The mrs swears by sugaring as its cheap and lasts for weeks and if you dont use all the mixture you can eat the rest

I'm a recent convert to epilating and it's amazing. The first time I tried it, I told myself I would NEVER do it again as it hurt so much. Then someone told me that the longer the hair, the more it hurt. So I shaved my legs, left it for a week then tried again and sure enough, epilating was a piece of cake. I do it before I go to bed, then the redness has died down by the morning.
It definitely lasts longer than shaving - I'm very fair and not very hairy and I'd have to shave every week. With epilating, I do it once a month and it's fine. Best of all, it's less messy than waxing and there's no danger of cutting yourself like there is when shaving. My epilator is a wet and dry one but I've never used the wet option so I can't advise you on that. Hope this helps

I have been seeing more and more lately about these hair removal creams that you put on and wash off in the shower. I hate shaving my legs and wonder if this may be the solution. Has anyone tried them and do they work on thicker hairs?

I found they work reasonably but not on all hairs so you still have to deal with the few left behind.

For me, it's an epilator all the way - it's brilliant! When I first got mine a few years ago, I only found it painful for doing underarm hair, and it was excrutiating
I perservered (because it was so good everywhere else!) and now I hardly feel it - all I get is a slight tingling! Having said all that, about 2 weeks ago, I was late up for work and knew I wouldn't get time to do it, so I shaved my legs and armpits for speed. *facepalm* I now either have to continue shaving through the summer, or let my hair grow out a bit so that I can go back to my epilator! Stupid, stupid woman! Grr. |

I always use a shaver. It really takes no time at all in the shower. When using an epilator, it takes hair away from below the skin line and, although longer lasting, hairs growing back have more of a tendancy to be ingrowing meaning unsightly bumps under the skin.
