Christ on a bike, what a load of cr*p. I'm 18 and used to have a Facebook, but recently deleted it because it causes more trouble than it's worth and tbh, on the whole (not everyone, just to be clear) attracts narcissistic and self-obsessed morons who have nothing better to do than talk about themselves or nose on everyone else's business.
It's basically saying "if you don't do what everybody else does, you're weird". When actually, like with fashion, music, hairstyles etc your choice to enter into social networking is entirely your own and does not give any evidence to any psychological problem whatever option you choose. |

The Columbine killers were keen users of early social networking sites. They would have been on Facebook if it had existed then.
Luka Magnotta was caught by his obsession with social networking. |

It's a very old fashioned viewpoint. It's also weird to assume that if you don't socialise online you don't socialise a lot in offline. I mostly socialise online just because I am quite socially inept and don't feel as comfortable in groups, but know plenty of people who don't do much online but have massive social circles. I'm also sure I read the exact opposite to that argument anyways...that living online too much can make you a psycho/sociopath. There is no one size fits all, people are all different...but I just remembered this is from the mail so it is a load of crap

Ah yes, obviously "not having a Facebook account which my prospective employer (or tabloid journalists) can find easily" = "not having a Facebook account". Are people really this dumb?

Typical Daily Mail B***llshit. Because two killers didn't have Facebook, the rest of us who don't have it (including me) are psychopaths.
People who are always on it are the ones who need help. |

I dont think facebook will be popular forever and it is probably waning now because of employers asking you in interviews for your facebook and stories about their lack of privacy and selling of data. People will eventually cotton on to what a load of rubbish it is and perhaps that is what is driving the article

i would agree that people who live in their own heads a lot are much less likely to have fb accounts. I'm an extrovert irl but I have an introverted side to me which means I don't like fb at all! I find it artificial and horrendous quite frankly. But I'm not about to go and kill anyone. (EYEROLL) Sigh.

I have a friend who has a Facebook account, but hasn't used it in months. I guess she must be borderline psycho.

One of the main reasons I'm not on Facebook is their insistence on you using your real name, not because I'm about to go on a killing spree. I am on other social networking sites, like twitter, which are more anonymous.

This can't be true, psychologists know better, and I am offended by that article.

I'm not on FB nor have I ever been on bebo or any of that s**t, apart from youtube, here and some other forums.
And you want to know why I'm not? Because I couldn't think of anything more boring than sitting in the dark LOLing eachother online and talking to people who I don't even like. Doesn't I lack a social life though. |

And privacy settings matter even less if you choose not to use your full real name (which, despite what Facebook would like you to do, you really don't have to). No idea how someone can claim without a substantial degree of doubt that "X didn't have a Facebook account".

Why are loners always portrayed in the media as weird and/or potential serial killers? It pisses me off because I am a loner and I have no intention of killing anyone.
It's just another Daily Mail brain fart and they don't even know what a psychopath is. Being a psychopath is NOT a prerequisite for violent crime. Being psychotic on the other hand... |

The paranoia that goes along with people's reasons for avoiding it is a bit far fetched. The privacy settings are tight and the instructions are clear, so there's no need to avoid it because you don't want your personal life on the internet. It's only like that if you want it to be.
