Don't put yourself down. And it's 'Sentence', by the way.

Only that, if you can't find any joy or any soul in not one single SAW song, it's a shame. They were never trying to be cool or credible. There's lots of other music for that, and it's quite possible to like that too. Though people on DS seem to struggle with that particular notion. Mostly it's just musical snobbery (of which we can all admit to). Really, music is the most subjective thing in the world. Apart from Cheryl Cole. That really is shit in a bin, and isn't fit to lick SAW's boots.
I think that's a few sentences. I'll count them later, while popping on a Big Fun album. |

And well done. Music Snobbery. Why is it the people who bring up musical snobbery are always the folk trying to make a case for the worst kind of shit music? Hmm. |

You don't really deserve more a sentence, if that's the best you can do. Go back to your dark place, and ponder your life. You don't sound very happy. |

If you don't know, I'm not telling you. Anyway, one has wasted enough time on Mr Misery Guts. Now go and enjoy your lunch. I'm sure it will be very credible and artistically challenging. Maybe a scotch egg perhaps.

Why are you both wasting energy and getting uptight with each other on a tedious spat, each trying to outwit one another. Why not argue via PM and leave everyone else to talk about the topic in hand.

I don't see what credible and artistically challenging has to do with disliking PWL. It's more a taste and not wasting my money on that crap thing. Exactly the same as Cheryl Cole. |

What I would say in relation to the type of beat, bass, and rhythm, there's a lot of similarities in the examples of Calvin Harris, and David Guetta. I think at the moment, only Avicci seems to be distinctive in his recipe. The mid 90s for example, had one theme of Eurodance where the beat and rhythm all sounded like for like. That's why it's a lot easier to mix the two together when played on Decks. |

In fairness SAW did come up with some good songs, sadly all of them before 1987 had arrived, and before the likes of Kylie, Jason, Astley, Sonia and horror of horror the Reynolds Girls started churning out one size fits all pop.
Probably their best singles being both by Princess 'Say I'm Your Number One' (1985) and 'Keep On Loving You' (1986), both classy and not out of place with the classy black soul that was in the charts at the time. The arrival of 1987 and SAWs dominance was the first nail in the coffin lid of pop, and the dire state of the charts today. |

They frequently swapped songs about between performers in their stable because the songs were so bland and lacking in personality and style they could have been sung by anyone. Hitchcock once said that actors were like cattle. In the PWL case singers were cattle too. Even at the time, late 80's, their output was considered a joke and subjected to a great deal of ridicule. The preceding 24-25 years haven't changed anything about their music other than to change it for the worst because it sounds so dated. Just as an example, check out There She Goes by The La's from 1988 and Nothing Can Divide Us by Jason Donovan from the same year. One of them sounds terribly dated. The other is a song by The La's |

Bros isn`t good pop? If Michael Jackson,an obvious template, was great pop, I`d put Bros in there as a good take on his style,no mean feat. Take That isn`t good pop? The Spice Girls? Pop as in popular. I`d say after the late 70s/early 80s period, that late 80s was a peak of British pop. You`re obviously going to disagree, but what do you think is good pop music?

Yes Take That and Michael Jackson made/make good music, but they and a very few other artists/bands post 1987 are merely an oasis in a desert of mediocrity. Before the mid 80's one could look at any Top 30 chart and the depth of talent, quality and variety was unmistakable, even class songs couldn't even make it into the Top 40. Where are today's bands? Why don't shows like the X Factor allow for original song writing, music playing bands to participate? (I know the answer) Kids today think that the likes of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Little Mix, David Guetta etc etc etc are the cutting edge, but where is their creativity? I feel sorry for them! |

I quite liked Bros actually! ![]() On a little more serious note, I'm starting to appreciate where you're coming from. Talent-based shows like the X Factor and BGT, are more to do with manipulation and tinkering to make someone appear to have the talent. That could be counter-argued though, as there could be somebody with genuine talent, those maybe lacking in other areas. If the up and coming generation of kids want to be in the music industry, then how can they be trialed? |
