BBC Olympics 1-24 recordings

As of this morning not only are all these channels off the air (as expected) but also all my wife's recordings of the synchro swimming and rhythmic gymnastics are inaccessible - she's distraught as I talked her out of watching these live when they conflicted with mainstream medal events which GB were hoped to medal at.

BBC iplayer is only offering the content that was broadcast on BBC 1, 2 and 3. This ignored a lot of the qualifying contests and nations other than GB and top medalists.

I feel like a fool, should have dumped these off to my freeview recorder instead of trusting the V+ with this job. I called VM and they realise that they will likely get a lot of calls tonight from upset customers in the same situation when they get home from work or holidays out of the country to find none of their recordings apart from mainstream channels can be viewed now. Whether that will translate into any kind of action, I am pessimistic. Those channels won't even be needed once again for the Paralympics since channel 4 has the contract for those games, not BBC

Interesting.

My telly broke last night when I was watching the Closing Ceremony. The picture went, tho I still had sound, which isn't a lot of good for a telly.

Anyway, I was V+ the closing ceremony on 550 cos there was no commentary on that channel, so presumably when I get my new telly tomorrow, it won't be there on V+.

If your wife doesn't mind watching on the computer, you could check out this page - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/...hedule-results

It should have every event to watch online.

Rebooting your V+ should fix this issue.

No problems on my Tivo so must be just a V+ issue.

There only seems to be one way to watch these recordings is go to the copy to vcr/dvd menu and select the recording you want to watch and put it in the to be copied box as if you were copying them to a dvd recorder and press the yellow button to copy now, then switch your tv to the dvd recorder channel and hey presto you can watch the recording.

Thanks JG1970!

After some confusion this morning- like deleting the last recording I eventually figured this out.

The channel says "unknown"

So the recording won't play.

(If you record something from a subscription channel, then stop subscribing to the channel I'm betting the same thing happens, and this is to stop you playing back content you are no longer subscribed to)

I chased this up this morning in work and have just been told it should now be fixed for both the BBC recordings and Eurosport 3D

I got my new TV today after the other one died on me during the closing ceremony. I'd V+ the ceremony on channell 550 and as I said previously, I expected it to be gone, but no, everything is there. I'm watching a bit of it now!

The channel is down as 'unknown' tho!

Yes rebooted. Just called customer services in India who didn't know what the Olympics was. They apparently sent all sorts of magic signals to my box to fix it. I said how can you know what to send to the box if you don't understand what the problem is. What chance is there they can fix it if they don't even know what you are talking about!

I've checked again with the TV team at Virgin Media, and they again have confirmed that the issue has been fixed. If rebooting hasn't solved it for you, you need to phone in to the faults team to resolve this as the box isn't picking up the fix.

I have rebooted the box over and over and still not sorted. If the engineers say it is sorted then why are so many people reporting that it isn't? The work around suggested by JG1970 of using the copy function is the only way that allows me to view these recordings. Maybe the "fix" doesn't work on Samsung boxes?

Yesterday, watched the start of Andy Murray .v. Roger Federer recording on (I think) Virgin 554 HD at the time. Still all OK so here is another reason for getting a Tivo!

I too recorded the closing on 550 but am abroad so have yet to watch it. I presume it will be watchable during the paralympics as I understand 550 will be used again. Possibly a window of opportunity to copy off.

Perhaps some of those channels might be re-used...BUT.. Olympics coverage came from BBC. Paralympics TV broadcast rights went to Channel 4. Plus I highly doubt that there would be a need for 24!HD & non-HD channels as the Olympics was massive with many qualification rounds for most events, the Paralympics is merely big...

I'm very glad to have successfully copied all that content off our V+ boxes to our freeview recorders so we don't have to rely any more on the good graces of VM to make it watchable!

I tried this and they sent out an engineer. They said he would know how to fix it but he did not. How can i escalate?
