EE: Can Kat still be saved?
I think it would be very difficult to save Kat now, because she's been totally ruined.
What would have been nice is that she would have come back and realized how much she needs Alfie. There is no reason for the affair; Alfie hasn't done anything to her. |

All it takes is a decent storyline for viewers to find sympathy and empathy for her.
Look how hated Stacey was during Stax and then look at the reaction towards her during her bipolar storyline. However I think for Kat, the damage has been done. It's a step too far having her become unfaitful to Alfie by a total of 4 times. That's a heck of a lot, especially when you factor in what a nice guy Alfie is, not to mention those who don't remember old Kat. All they see (understandably) is a woman who turned up in 2010, sour-faced, bitchy, horrible wife and a serial cheater. I see that too, even as a old EE viewer, but at the same time remember the warm, compassionate, loyal and softer person that John York gave us. I do think Kat is totally capable of earning peoples empathy once more but at the same time, I can't see anyone really getting behind her again. Viewers can let go the odd thing but with Kat it's been continuous for two years straight and stapled into peoples minds. No matter what redemption arc she'll get, her actions won't so easily be forgiven or forgotton as other characters. |

Of course. Jessie can stil deliver and if you have a good actress it is never impossible to fix a character.
People just think when a character is disliked try should be axed. I think it is forgotten just how popular Jessie and Kat were in ther original stint. She was a modern legend. They should rebuild this to bring another popular big face back to the square. She needs to be at her bottom. She needs to be in the gutter with everyone looking down at her. He moves back into the slaters. But she needs to be remorseful. She should be sorry, and people still dot forgive her. Like Sharon before her. Alfie would be comforted by Roxy. Jar would have a breakdown. She would be partying again. Trying to bury herself back into Kat Slater mode. Not self pitying, just hiding. Jean and Mo would intervene, calling the aid of Lynne. Lynne and Kat were the closest sisters and Lynne knows Kat more than she knows herself. She would beig her out and Kat would see the clubs and hides her pain in and sees as a haven are just more buildings. The dawning she is an aging slapper would make her realise she wants Alfie and was too stupid to know it. She goes with Lynne to the Vic, where Alfie and Roxy announce their relationship. Kat is heart broken, but instead of causing a fuss or getting drunk, she takes Tommy and raises a glass to them. Now Kat is rebuilding herself but no one will give her a job. She has a heart to heart with lister (because I always loved his scenes with Whitney) and he gives her a stall. She start to rebuild her life as a likeable woman and a mother, while people, including Alfie, start to come around to get again. Then can she start to be a good character again. Afterwards I would have her do a course in councilling and run an abuse support group in the Community centre. We need that sense of a positive end to the dirty girl arc. |

I think she can, she just needs a good storyline, which viewers would sympathise with her in

But Alfie needs saving too, and this would ruin him. He needs to rediscover his backbone and he cannot just forgive her again for this affair. Maybe down the line they'll get back together, but not straight away. She needs to realise she needs him, but only when it is too late.

Kat doesn't need saving! It's only you and the Kat Attackers on here that have s problem with her.. I don't see what's happening with Kat at the moment that's deviating from her Original characterisation.. It's in keeping I think. Get over it

Seriously? Have you never seen Kat of 2000-2005? That is a ridiculous statement. Everyone seems to hate her, and rightfully so.

It's all part of Kat though. She loves Alfie in her own way but there isn't the excitement there for her. She doesn't need saving as she is doing fine (well maybe saving from the lipstick). Alfie has just bumbled along and is happily carrying on as before, he actually needs to look at his relationship and see that Kat isn't happy. Instead for weeks he had Roxy living with him, leading her on, giving her the impression that there was a chance. He hasn't even spoken to Kat about Roxy he has just let that quietly slip by the wayside and carried on as normal. For any woman to come home from looking after her sick father and find another woman with her feet firmly under the table (as Roxy's were) living her life it would be a difficult thing to forget or forgive.
they are both at fault in this storyline, Alfie for thinking it was okay to let Roxy live kat's life whilst she was away and then not speak to Kat about it at all even knowing how Roxy felt and how Kat feels (unless he is so thick he can't see how Kat felt). And Kat for having her affairs. There is an elephant in the room and they need to deal with that and not bury their heads in the sand. But neither are ruined and neither need saving they(the writers) just need to deal with this storyline and the aftermath in a better way. |

I suspect that once TPTB have Kat out of the Vic to make way for Sharon and we see Kat brought low, bedraggled and slappless then they will start to re-build her. As for Alfie who knows. I hope he doesn't continue to live in his smug little bubble, failing to see what's right under his nose. |

I think the biggest problem with Kat is, aside from the writing, Jessie can no longer emote - it makes Kat seem so hard faced and not the vulnerable woman she used to be.

No she should just leave - why prolong the agony, They promised her good stories that went no where and now she'll be sidelined for sharon, frankly I can't see wallace putting up with it much longer.

To be honest, I've been harbouring the secret opinion that Jesse Wallace is leaving after this year. I can't see anyone sticking with this amount of tripe.

Yes. As pointed out, the problem is Kat...Not Jessie.

Yes she can, bring back a recast Zoe who turns up looking for her mum. I don't think Kat has spoken about her much so we could find out that they aren't on the best of terms because when Kat slept with Michael in Spain he was actually in a relationship with Zoe, she hasn't even told Alfie why they don't speak much. Zoe is back because she is up the duff and a scan in a Spanish hospital revealed that the baby had problems and she didn't have health insurance to cover the medical bills so wants treatment from the NHS and needs some where to stay because she's run out of money.
Kats and Zoes relationship is strained at first but slowly it starts to build back up until Zoe finds out about the affair Kats having and Zoe struggles keeping the secret from Alfie threatening Kat that she will tell him all. Eventually after a few weeks an argument breaks out and Zoe shouts about Kats affair only for the whole pub to hear including Alfie who is heart broken and leaves to stay at the B&B leaving Zoe to comfort Kat when she goes into labour 4 months early. They get to hospital and the baby arrives but the pair are told it has only hours to live and in a special real time episode the pair have a heart to heart as they watch the baby in its only short life Julia's theme plays as the baby pass's away and the pair hug each other. |

I think it's up to Jessie what she does now, but I wouldn't blame her if she chooses to move on. |
