I wear it pretty much every day when i'm leaving the house. Only takes me five minutes to put on though... bit of foundation (and it's light foundation) and mascara and that's it. When I go out on a night I wear more though.. eyeliner and lipstick as well as heavier mascara etc.

I do like make up however and use it in different ways for different things, subtle make up for an interview much more glam for nights out with friends and i try to be a bit sexy on a date with more gloss and mascara but no shadow and no blusher, men dont like a face full of the stuff i think so i choose to accentuate just lips and eyes.

I see so many people comment on people in the gym with make-up on but I go after work so I will have a full face of make-up on as I am not going to take it off just to go to the gym. If I go in the morning my hair is scraped back and my face it make-up free because I haven't been anywhere else yet.

I tend to head to the gym after work so will have my daytime minimal makeup on, but I'll never understand those who have so much on that they look like they're ready to go clubbing! Most of it's only going to be sweated off or will end up all cakey. When I go on a Sunday morning I only wear a little mineral foundation as I don't want to be seen glowing like a traffic beacon.

I've never worn make up, none at all. When I was younger I was a re enactor so obviously make up doesn't fit and now I am allergic to chemicals. It's nasty stuff.

But some people I know won't leave the house without their "face on", Very sad, why???

I wear makeup every day. Not a lot on my face in the summer, just a light dusting of powder, but I like my smokey made up eyes.

In the winter I wear a little translucent foundation, powder and the same eye makeup, plus a little blusher.

On weekends, if im just staying home i will put on a little mascara. Nothing more.

The weird thing is, I have a fettish for lipstick and I have loads of them ... and yet I never really wear it !!

I have vitiligo on my face which means a patch of utterly white skin which makes me look a bit like one of those spotty cows. but I STILL don't wear make up.

I wore it on and off when younger but never foundation. These days I wouldn't put anything with synthetic chemicals in on my face. Cos I have never bothered with sunbathing or sun beds or skin make up or anything chemical, my skin still looks fine. I think I'd look like a prune by now if I'd been caking crap on my face for the past couple of decades as I have noticed that phenomenon that women who spend a lot of time on their faces tend to age faster. They must be wrecking their skin.

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've worn makeup (I'm in my late 20s), and it's just not for me. I end up feeling even more conscious of myself, plus I touch and rub my face a lot anyway, so it's a bit pointless. The most I do is pluck my brows to keep them neat. Noone screams and runs away when they are face to face with me, so I can't be *that* hideous

It's not 'sad' it's personal choice. I wear make-up nearly every day because I like it and see no reason to ignore the option of something that makes me look and feel better with minimal effort. Also, as my skin is sensitive to external allergens I find a barrier to the elements helps. I'm now 41 and more or less wrinkle free and get taken for much younger.

You can apply the same arguments for and against any form of personal grooming. Nobody says it's sad to brush your hair, or buy a deodorant and apply it. Any grooming could be described as vanity. Yet doing so shows some self-respect and regard for how others see you. Make-up is just another level of that, optional but pleasant :/

I meant in the case of the people I was referring to, if you bothered to read my post properly.
That they appear to be so low in confidence that they can't face the world without a chemical mask. Brushing your hair isn't the same as hiding behind a layer of muck.

Nothing pleasant about chemicals like formaldehyde (largely banned in the US). Used to preserve body parts (or bits of cows) and highly toxic. Sodium laurel Sulphate is registered with the WHO as a major skin irritant. These are only two of hundreds of toxic chemicals you put on your skin.

Some women probably "need" it, others don't. IF you're attractive you don't, if you're ugly you probably do.

That's what it comes down to, really. Sad but true.

Agreed!! Sadly.

But I was talking about people I know, i couldn't care less about what anyone does, I think the ladies I referred to do it out of habit too.

If you're ugly you'll still be ugly with makeup. Most of those pictures of "stars" without makeup are actually "stars" pulling ugly faces. If someone is smiling they'll look a lot more attractive than if they're not.

I don't think it's sad, people see grooming differently some will quite happily leave the house without make-up or their hair done others see it as they are going out they should make the effort and if that includes make-up so be it. My Mum never goes out without a bit of make-up, nor do my aunts they always wear a full face of make-up even just to go to the shops they will wear lipstick, to them doing so would be in their eyes not making the effort. I don't feel right going to work without make-up on, it feels to me like I haven't made the effort. Why go to the effort of putting decent clothes on for work and then not bother with your face. On a Saturday I tend to go out shopping whether that's clothes shopping or to the garden centre or to the supermarket but I will put make-up on because I want to look nice, if I am making the effort with my clothes and hair and putting jewellery on then why not make the effort with the make-up. If I am slobbing it for the day then no make-up, hair tied back no point wasting the hair products if I am not going anywhere other than the newsagents to get the paper.

I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful what I put on my face otherwise I get sore patches(it annoys me when companies change their ingredients) and bright red cheeks and my eyes are really sensitive so I have to be careful what I use there otherwise my eyes will start streaming and itch and I look like a panda.

Once again,,,I was referring to people I know not being able to leave the house without it. It suggests a lack of confidence, and I'm not sure why.

I think society puts a lot of pressure on women to conform.

i wear makeup every day

i wear primer, foundation, concealer power, eyeliner, mascara, blush, highlight and fill in my eyebrows...

partly i do it because i like the way i look with it on.

but when i'm going out and i play around with eyeshadow combinations etc, i like doing it because it is more of a way to show my personality off.

its pretty much the only thing i can do which is at all creative or artistic, and i have fun putting it on!

sometimes i just put "out there" makeup on at home when i'm not going out, just to entertain myself

Awww.... that sounds lovely, now I see it differently, like a canvas, art or a painting.

How do you feel without it though?

I don't think there's a connection at all. I've never used make up and have had my share of boyfriends, been married, family, all that stuff, same as anyone else. There are plenty of girls out there who are just as nature intended and you will find one in time.

I wear make-up most days. The basic is to fill in my eyebrows, bit of mascara and blusher, and a dash of powder for my nose.
A full-on evening face of make-up is the works and takes over half an hour - but that's only for special occasions as my skin couldn't handle foundation every day.
I can and do go out without any make-up on - there are days when I've been to work with a completely nude face and it doesn't bother me too much; but I usually make an effort because I like to look my best.

My skin is good, but it definately needs a bit of colour or else I look like Moonface off the Faraway tree. It's amazing that you can create cheek-bones or slim down your face just by applying colour strategically. I don't do tanning or bronzer - I'm naturally pale and even with a natural tan I'm convinced that my complexion looks blotchy and unhealthy when it's even slightly orange. I don't do fake tan period.

I think false eyelashes look tacky, but I enjoy wearing bright coloured eyeshadow. I co-ordinate with my outfit. I don't do it every day, but it lets the artist inside me run wild!

I stick to the either rule - focus on lips or eyes, never both. The only time I break this rule is when I get my goth on!

I wear at least a little makeup each time I leave the house and I have no reason to justify it. I do it because I do it, simples. I wear more when I'm going "out" out -- my eyes in particular, and concealer. I'm extremely pale and blotchy so I don't feel comfortable being seen completely fresh-faced.

I don't wear makeup if I'm not going anywhere. I work from home, so I don't leave the house a lot, which means I only put makeup on two or three times a week, and it gets wiped off as soon as I get home. However, if I worked out of the home, I would wear it every day and be happy for it. I like makeup and I like wearing it.

Me neither. All the people I have known for most of my life (re enactors - bikers), none would ever wear make up. I have a few friends who do these days and as I said, I find it hard to understand how they can't leave the house without it.

I think there is enormous pressure on women to be and do certain things, in society. Saying that, I epilate and wouldn't dream of stopping it. That is something else that is done to fit in. The horror expressed at the girl with hairy legs on TV recently shows that. I have to ask, why is it so important to use to fit in?

I wear make-up every day, whether going out or staying in and have done for years. I can put it on in less than ten minutes, and look ten times better than without it. It makes me feel ' finished' and well groomed, ready for anything. For me, wearing moisturiser and foundation has acted as a barrier to the elements, and kept my face soft and wrinkle free.

I rarely wear make-up. If I'm going out for lunch or something I might put on light eye make-up. If I'm going 'out' out then I wear heavier eye make-up and probably a little foundation and powder depending on how my spots are. I hate wearing foundation though, it's difficult with my freckles because it never looks like clear skin, it just looks like a faceful of foundation and semi-visible freckles. If I cover my freckles up completely I feel weird and it takes far too much, it just feels like too much and feels daft. Then chances are I'm going to sweat it off or rub it off or it's going to cake...it's just the worst form of make-up IMO. I almost never wear lipstick either as I bite my lips and bite it off pretty rapidly, and even slightly dark lipstick makes me look like a bulldog. I also feel like you need your full face done to pull off lipstick otherwise it just looks odd, but maybe that's just me. My friend is taking a beauty therapy course and there have been a few times when I've had her do me a full face of make-up for a big night out. Day to day, seeing my boyfriend, shopping, wandering round town - I go totally natural. My only proper cosmetic vice is nail polish.
