Well that's the Tatts speciality, that shade work of his is stunning! All will be revealed in time - together with "everything" else, lol . Still we can all rest assured that "soon" is indeed getting closer

That's the thing I don't like about tattoos. Sometimes they look like bruises or that the skin is dirty. I've seen Adam Levine's tattoos and to me he looks as if he needs a good wash. Sorry, still struggling with this.

Hi Lins I like the look of the tat so far and think that its going to be a very subtle one not oot. I have seen other tatto's that this tattooist has created and they are interesting. However the tattooist usually personalises his or her work to cater for the client in this case Matt.

I agree sorlo I like the look of it very subtle at the moment. Pleased he went to the Food Festival he obviously enjoyed himself.

I agree Lins he's getting very good at hiding it.

Hi guys just popping in ...a lot of talk about Matts tats..i am not a great lover of them myself but if does seem to be a thing in the music biz...i dont think he will go overboard with them does not suit his personality
Who interesting to read about his new single..fingers crossed it gets loads of airplay..i am excited and aprehensive about when the future holds
Ps crabbie i enjoyed reading you brain dump...the music business is hard at the mo its difficult to see how they are going to make money..but i do think theese things run in cycles and music is such and important part of poeples lives that creative music will find a way..well at least i hope so

I am not a massive fan of tattoos - particularly when people cover their entire bodies in them - but Matt's tatts to date have been pretty subtle and I find the one on his hips rather sensual. From what I can see, the new one is different to the others as it is an image of some sort, but it doesn't appear (from the bit we can view) to be too brash - so I am cool with it.

I think we are all a mixture of excited but apprehensive for the new single. But then we all know that if it doesn't get mainstream airplay, then it won't sell. Matt's no different to most other artists on that score - I see Aiden's new single didn't chart top 40, but then he had R1 "B" playlisting and nothing else. The "B" playlist is less than 10 plays per week and some of those can be on the middle of the night shows - so what chance have you got when hardly anyone knows it exists. I don't think the single broke the top 100 airplay charts. I have a feeling the album will not do much better - it hasn't been showing up very much in the Amazon Bestseller Charts - which heavily pre-ordered albums do even before release. I just hope that the barely contained excitement, that Matt & Will have been displaying for months, is because they know that airplay is going to be better for this album/single. To me, the nervy Matt who was much in evidence around the time of the release of Letters, just seems to have disappeared and been replaced by a total bundle of happiness. That shouldn't be the case given the split with Columbia and Syco. You would expect greater nervousness about the next album, because if it fails to sell then that would be the end of his career as a chart artist. So imho the excited and happy Matt knows that he has cut some sort of deal that is going to give him one hell of a chance of a high chart placing.

OOTP - I agree that there are major ups and downs in the music industry over the years - the labels are always trying to keep up with trends that change at whim and new technology that changes the way music is purchased (or not purchased in these days of free downloading). The article I posted yesterday mentioned that last week Rihanna's sales of under 10K to get to number one were the lowest since the Official Chart Company started compiling data in 1994. The previous low had been The Cranberries with sales of 11K, and that was 18 years ago. Well what I get from that is that there was a similar slump back then and I am sure the RCs were in a panic then too, but sales bounced back and albums were selling ridiculous numbers only a couple of years back. So hopefully for album artists, this is a temporary decline and a bounce back will happen. I really don't think the Olympics have helped.

Crabs love reading your posts
Too many points to mention but i agree Matt needs to get substantial airplay ..otherwise i caanot see how his album will sell enough to make a sucess of it ..what we dont know and never will is how many people purchased letters because he was and x factor winner and how many have a vested interest in purchasing another album from him..he has a core fan base but is that enough no one knows...i like you hope this happy vibe we are getting is because will and matt know there are good things ahead
Having recently visited the uk i did note how music stores have decreased ..an the ones that are there seems to sell videos and games as well..you used to be able to go into a store and listen to a sample of an album wheres that gone?
I do think the olympics has made an impact but as a sports fan i dont mind really
My dd has her i pod constanly n her ears but i dont think she has paid for music for the last three years...she is not interseted in the likes of ID at all or buying their merchandse ..but how do you ensure her generation realise music cannot be free

Oh boy, I wish my daughter wasn't a fan of 1D - far too much of my hard earned cash has been spent lining their pockets. Like your daughter, she doesn't normally have an awareness that she should be paying for the music she has on her phone, but she has been taken in by the gimmick CD covers for 1D, so wanted to own the one that Liam was on. I was just grateful that she didn't want 5 copies - one of each boy. Luckily she hates Harry (because he screwed up the Red & Black performance and made it look that they can't perform live) so she didn't want to have the full set - phew!

Funny you should mention the decline in music stores - I was thinking the same the other day. I think CDs are mainly bought on the internet now and as casual purchases in supermarkets. And supermarkets only tend to stock the top 50. I think us 40 somethings have also come over to the dark side the last couple of years and are now owning iPods/iPhones, so only buy physical CDs when we really want a hard copy - Matt's album is the only hardcopy I have purchased since I bought an iPod about 2 years ago, everything else I have downloaded from iTunes.

I think the Olympic Games gave the country a lift, so I don't mind the Olympics impact as long as it bounces back by the time Matt releases.

Don't worry - I hate posting on my phone as the predictive text has a mind of its own. I only post on the phone when I am away from home for more than a day or two.

Yes the bag makes more sense now! Well the tat looks like just a load of lines, I don't get it but I never understand why someone would cover a body part in a doodle.

A spiders web or a maze springs to mind - ie the many twists, turns, pathways within life and or the music industry

Evening peeps. I've seen the tat pic and much as I've tried to get on board, I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll never be ok with it. It's very obvious and noticeable. I know I'm boring everyone to death with this so from now on I won't mention it again.

Thank you chosen for the larger picture of the tat actually I rather like it as it appears to have as Pie has said the many turns and trails of life. I love the simplicity of the whole thing. The cross reminds me of the 'viturvian' man by Leonardo Da Vinci it has a subtle tone to the whole thing. Lins its something so special extending his art to his body..............
