With the screenplay by Emma Thompson and music by Jay-Z you would think this could be an interesting remake but I am not sure on having Willow Smith in the lead role. To me this is one film that shouldn't be touched as nothing can come close to beating the original

Exactly. i mean jay-Z had success with sampling Hard Knock Life many years ago but there is no reason why he should go tampering with a classic film just so that Will Smith has a platform to show off his daughter.

Now if it was just an Emma Thompson project and used the Jay-Z track for the closing credit then that would work a lot better IMO

I hadn't heard anything about this for months so was hoping that the idea had been scrapped. Ugh. At the risk of being accused of being racist, I'm aware that the character of Annie is known for her red hair and that shouldn't be changed.

I always use this same example but can you imagine the outrage if in the A Team movie a few years ago the producers decided to cast a white actor as B.A. Baracus? People would have said "...but the character is black"!
