That way the odd non runner, or computer breakdown or being away on holiday can be fitted in as part of your leeway of 5 weeks of not having to post a selection
We sort of do that with the "miss 3 races and you're out" rule but a NR could count as one of those perhaps

Do you mean your score stays as is ?

Actually Darren thinking about it more, if you do a placepot and have a non runner it goes on the favourite, why not adopt the same rule.
However i do not think the change should not come in until the winter comp.

I think we might have had non-runners going on favourites a few years back but the consensus was that it was a bit unfair because favourites kept winning............

the 'highest number' was introduced as a random method........

Maybe in retrospect we might be better off going back to 'favourites' because although people might still get a random winner by virtue of having a non runner at least it'll probably only be 2/1 and not 25/1............so it won't skew the competition as much

Ach, knew I had forgotten to do something, only remembered when nowhere near a PC! Would not have picked up any points anyway, back next week with a needed winner hopefully.

All my effort for picking the winner was in vain.I don't like this non runner rule at all. Many big price winners do come from bottom weights, and scorer was lucky this time.We need to change this rule.......quick.

How about at the start of the next comp we each stipulate how we wish a non runner be treated.

Eg, Fav, Top Weight, treated as no runner with no point movement. and others.I think we should however not select a numbered horse as replacement.

I will go with what the majority think is fair. The no runner no points is a good one BUT does thąt also give an advantage as you arent losing anything either

I'll go with the majority but I will say this had Mr Chairman and a few others got the same luck as me this week and I didn't get the luck would they still be on here wanting a rule change?

I can't be online 24/7 to change a selection because of a non-runner.

I kind of feel a bit sorry for scorer, he may have benefitted from it but regardless if he had time or was online to change it those were/are the rules. I'm sure if he actually had time he'd have probably changed his selection. Well done anyway scorer, anyone could benefit one week.

Personally if I know i'm not going to be online after I post I'll sometimes say to DL a number of horse or pick a 2nd selection should the first be a non runner as I also don't have time to post again sometimes. For the winter comp i'd be happy to go back to the favourite. Or everyone post 2 selections, a first choice and a second choice should first be a non-runner and if both are non-runners then it just counts as a non-runner. No points lost or gained.

My English is terrible as i've got a stinking hangover but hope it makes sense.....

I think you should read my post about this again scorer because I feel some of your comments are a tad harsh. I did say that those are the rules and won't change until next season AND I also stated I would go with majority decision. If that is no change then so be it. I also said it sounds like sour grapes.

Be fair mate you could win this through fortune and not skill. All we want to do is make it the fairest way possible for all.

Just caught up on the comments and I agree that from next season we should do a reserve selection in the case of a non-runner. Seems the most sensible and fair way forward

Can't we just consider them non-runners?
