My pal has also had several LG tellys and every one of them has had to go back. If your telly is a 2011 panel thats most likely the cause.

Yeah there is posts but the problem is they never ever say what they are playing it on! A few complaints out of the hundreds of thousands who have the TiVo does not mean its Virgins fault!

Anyway, good luck with sky's box. I'm sure you will love it
My point was not that it was V/M fault, its the stupid thing that they do if you dont like your tivo box, they are not giving you a choice, they are saying if your pictures are crap from your tivo box like it or lump it, in otherwords we cant be arsed, so people will just go to sky. does this not seem just a bit stupid, they are pushing there own subscribers to sky, by NOT ofering them a v+box if they dont like tivo, after their 7 day cooling off period. its a stupid policy from V/M and it will cost them.
All i wanted from V/m was my v+back and i would have stayed, but they said no!
So they gave me a choice have crap pictures from your tivo and pay us £78 a month, or go to sky, so i went to sky, what a way to treat a subscriber for over 10 years.

You honestly think for 1 minute that people would run back to skys feeble box after having a TiVo?!!

I still don't get what you mean by picture quality? I had 2 V+ before i got the TiVo and the picture is the same. No difference at all. My picture quality is excellent on HD channels. Superb in fact. SD channels like i have said are crap but, its the same on sky. Its the channels who broadcast who are at fault. Not the carrier. I think your either on a windup, have a crap telly or are blind as a bat.

It's their goal to get everyone on TiVo within a few years. They want to move forward, not backwards. Having a uniform system will presumably enable new stuff. One specific point is that they want all their boxes to support MPEG-4. Some V+ ones only support MPEG-2. They can't switch transmissions to MPEG-4 until everyone is upgraded.

I believe some V+ boxes were capable, but perhaps yours wasn't one of them, in which case they couldn't give it back to you. Anyway, TiVo is now a core part of their strategic vision. It's what they are selling. If you don't want to buy, that's too bad. (Especially as most people don't have a picture problem.)

I think you will find lots of people do have picture problems with the tivo, just log onto to the virgin help and support fourum. and you will see more people that are unhappy than happy ones, you can talk as much as you like about this overhyped tivo box and keep telling yourself you have bought into something great, but it still wont change the fact, that its overcomplcated, clunky, and slow, and if this is the latest tec that V/M have to offer, you can keep it, what a pile of slow junk!

I am very happy with my TiVo box and no I do not find it very slow, it is only a bit slow, maybe Virgin have not activated the second core yet

It does a lot more than the Sky boxes, it tells me the weather, it streams the Red Button via IPTV, I get all the celeb gossip from the Celebrity App, need I go on?

But what your saying" is nothing i cant get off my lap top?
And with all due respect who on earth, is interested in celb gossip? this tivo box is cracked up to be the latest great thing on the market from v/m, most of the things it does i can do on my lap top, the menus are so slow, and the box so clunky, you just get fed up, going through the menus trying to delete the 20 episodes, of the same program it has recorded in the space of 3 days, people can slag the v+box off as much as they like, but it gave great SD and HD pictures, and was easy to use, all v/m needed to do, was give it a bigger hard drive.

You can delete all recordings of a show at once - press the clear button on the folder.

Permanent series links
Automatic rescheduling when there is a clash
Wishlists
14 day EPG
Sky Movies HD On Demand content
3 recordable tuners
excellent search feature

V+ does not have any of the above

Overly complicated!! Haha! My old maw uses hers with absolutely no problems at all! Even Americans manage perfectly well!!

I also cant believe you are saying the forum is full of more unhappy users than happy ones!! If you had any clue at all you would know that there are nearly 1 million TiVo users and people normally only post on forums to express dissatisfaction. Never to say how good it is.

Dear oh dear...i still blame your telly.....

Channel 5 have crammed all of their channels into 1 satellite transponder

Does not like that will change anytime soon.
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1702227

That is the feed Virgin Media takes.

i should have said in post 18 and post 58 " excluding Channel 5 SD channels "

Sky+ tells the weather as well, if you have no picture it must be raining.

If you have your programs grouped, you can delete them all in one go by pressing the 'clear' button.

Which is strange, because the latest VM promotion in our area was for a TiVo box and a V+ box as the second box. Clearly they still have some left over. If that is what you really wanted, I could not see what their problem was

V/m would NOT give me a v+hd box they said they are discontinuing the box and dealing with tivo only, make what you like of that, i told V/M c/s that this policy is known as shooting yourself in the foot, by not giving the subscriber a choice! And to make things even more ridiculous the lady i was talking to in c/s agreed with me over the v+box, and she told me she would pass my comments on to the relevant people at v/m. I meen how stupid is this, sorry we Arnt giving you your v+box back, so we want you to go to sky! what a great way to run v/m pushing your subscribers to sky. With a take or leave it policy on the tivo box!
Well i get my sky hd installed 19th sep, well done v/m a subscriber for over 10 years, what a way to run a business.

But the other channels (well, the 5HD anyway) look fine and do't have the same issues. Oh well. No matter.

They probably don't get either like any of us why you would want a slower and inferior box...

And don't start about the picture as they are the same on both boxes...

Your missing the whole point, i was NOT offerd a v+box (in the 7 day cooling off period) i was told i could have my v+box back if i did not like tivo by V/M, so what am i going to do? stick with a load of garbage tivo. or move to sky? i went to sky, even C/S at v/m have told me they are going to review the situation, concerning giving people a replacement box (choice) if they dont like tivo.
Do you NOT see that?
Its not about picture, or sound or anything else, its about V/m saying to subscribers, if you dont like tivo tough! we v/m arnt giving you any other box! even the guy who phoned me today, to try and get me to stay with v/m admited, the whole thing about not offering a replacement v+ box needs looking at, and he has passed my coments on to the relevant people at v/m.

For christ sake! Don't talk such absolute rubbish!

You whined about the picture, now its changed to a whine about them not giving you a V+ box.

What are you going do if you don't like Sky HD? Cry and whine at them to change it for an old sky+ box they don't provide anymore? What about people who didnt like the V+ box? Did they cry like a child and ask for an old Pace box they didn't provide anymore?

Is that known as pushing your subscribers to Virgin?

Indeed, Sky provide 1 box type SKY HD, it comes with different drive sizes but it's the same animal, Virgin Provide 1 recording and one non recording box.

The old boxes are obsolete and are no longer manufactured and all the ones left are 2nd hand spares

your the one one who is crying not me, are you thick or just stupid? or both? i have told you i wanted to stay with v/m but they NEVER gave me a choice, and you forgot to mention the fact, that they told me they WOULD give me a v+back if i did not like tivo(after cooling off period), is that not sharp practice by v/m?, i call it telling lies to the subscriber to get cash off them!.
My last post just get on with it!

Nah, i'm not the thick one here.

VM do not give out V+ HD boxes. Now, that's not hard to understand is it? You were misinformed, its unfortunate but shit happens. Just wait till you join sky and see the belters they tell you. I should know, i worked for them long enough!!

Anyway, what the hell is your deal with the TiVo? i dont get the irrational hatred for a box that does so much more than the slow ass V+ box.

Makes no sense at all.
