Wrong national anthem played at Powerlifting Ceremony

Was in the ExCel earlier, watched some of the powerlifting finals (despite being told nobody with a day pass could get in where I was, I just walked in anyway to banks and banks of seats).

Anyway, at the victory ceremony, where China had won (Nigeria 2nd, Russia 3rd), they started playing a national anthem and the Chinese guy looked confused, before they turned the volume down on that one and played the proper Chinese anthem.

A pretty monumental **** up which I thought people should know about.

They played the Chilean one instead- must be the next one on the list!

They showed the incident in the Last Leg programme last night and everybody made pretty light of it.

Pretty embarrassing but understandable, some mistakes like that will just happen in an event of such magnitude. Just looks like a slight finger error on a playlist. Don't know how much they have a select and confirm or double check by anyone else, which should have caught it.

Nothing like as bad as during the Olympics ( well on the first day of the football before the official start ! ) when the South Korean flag came up on the big screen at Hampden, detailing the North Korean football team. Even worse that it was apparently a prepackaged item sent up from London. Checks and balances ? The North Korean team disappeared back up the tunnel, not to be seen for another hour, until grovelling apologies were quite rightly made.
