She kind of has to really. Pound the Alarm is struggling to get top 10 in the US. If that song can't do it, nothing else on the album can. She's probably got a new crop of watered down eurodance songs from RedOne.

It's being re-released only half a year after the first release?

All the singles apart from Starships haven't really done well in the UK...and I don't think Pound The Alarm has really done that well anywhere...

I think the album is great, but I'd much rather she did a Rihanna and brought out an entirely new album at the end of the year instead of extending this era....though I'll be interested to hear the new songs....they will probably be more RedOne/Dr. Luke dance tunes though...

If true, re-releasing it this soon is insanity!! I want some strong tracks with her rapping on it over the Eurodance stuff this time please.

Urgh
Why?
The album it's self was like 22 songs.

Although to be fair, RR hasn't matched the sales of PF. Pink Friday's sales in the US were 2 milllion while Roman Reloaded are about 500k-600k so i reckon maybe her label are a bit pissed with how the album has done. With her first album, it was all about selling the album. But since Superbass exploded, she has become just another singles artist.

Just a guess

Am I reading this right? She rereleased Pink Friday under the title Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded...and now she's re-releasing that?

Re-releases are a real pet hate of mine.

She never re-release it. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is a stand alone album but continuing the Pink Friday brand

RR is not a re-release, it's a 2nd album, but the title is like a sequel to Pink Friday....I think the album is long enough as it is, and really doesn't need a re-release at all...

She should just spend some extra time and release a whole new album later in the year....

Maybe because Pound The Alarm is a terrible song. I know some diehard Nicki fans who HATE that song to bits.

I think it is because she had a lot of hype from her mixtapes before the first album came out so more people bought it, but many have quickly lost interest, especially the urban world. Since Superbass the urban radio has almost completely turned their back on her in the US except for when she is featuring because she just keeps putting out pop songs that urban radio is completely against. The last pop song that got MASSIVE play on urban radio out here was probably Jessie J's Price Tag. Domino was left to the pop stations just like all of Nicki's recent pop tunes.

It's one of the worst songs I've ever heard. But if it's doing so badly in the charts, Whip It, Automatic and Beautiful Sinner will flop too.

Are you talking about UK or US urban radio? A lot of pop songs get played on UK urban radio. Even Pound the Alarm did on Radio 1Xtra, Choice FM, etc.

In the US, the last song that was a hit on urban radio that was also big on pop radio was 5 O'Clock by T-Pain/Lily Allen/Wiz Khalifa.

Very true. She has changed her style so much and she has lost so much respect from the people and fans of the Urban genre. She has become a victim of selling her soul for a dance beat.

It's easy to go from Pop to dance pop but to go from rap/hip-hop to dance, well that isn't something you normally see from rappers.

US. I don't really consider that song a pop song, personally. I guess it could count though.

I think the only one to do it successfully without changing completely is 50 cent with In Da Club. Flo Rida and Pitbull were always sort of party rappers.

I wouldn't consider it a pop song either tbh, but it crossed over to pop I suppose.

Where Have You Been is currently in the top 100 of the US urban chart aswell, if that counts.

In Da Club is a club song, but it still uses a hip hop beat. You can get away with that. Rack City by Tyga and Niggas in Paris by Jay-Z/Kanye are recent examples.

In the mid-00s, a lot of rappers did crunk songs, but again, they kept it on a hip hop rhythmn and tempo.

I personally wouldn't even call Flo Rida or Minaj "rappers" any more - they're closer to full on pop/dance artists. Pitbull, or should I say, "featuring" Pitbull is just about hanging on by his teeth to being a rapper IMO.

Yea, that definitely counts. Rihanna always gets a pass on everything. It's actually quite annoying. The song is only 84, though on the Rnb/Hip-Hop chart.

Like Lil John and The Eastside Boys. They had mostly club tracks, but they were still hip hop songs.

Yeah, it peaked at #56 in the urban chart there.

The reason the urban community love Rihanna is because she doesn't release just dance songs like Nicki does. For example:

California King Bed - Man Down - Cheers - We Found Love - You Da One - Talk That Talk - Birthday Cake

compared to:

Turn Me On - Starships - Pound the Alarm

Rihanna is very faithful to urban music compared to Nicki. Urban radio probably just get used to playing all her songs. And the silly thing is, Rihanna considers herself a pop artist, and Nicki considers herself a hip hop artist.

Nicki Minaj is delusional. She USED to be a hip hop artist. Her features are usually great, but the singles she keeps cranking out are just ridiculous. I don't even know how she thought PTA would do well.

Very true about Rihanna as well and that is why she is successful because she sneaks into all the genres. She has joined the dance trend but has known how to balance.

Nicki is a sell out for doing this dance stuff to be honest. She is NOT a singer, and while I like her album, I don't appreciate the fact that she mimes during performances and just doesn't sound that great...she is a great rapper so I don't know why she has decided to turn herself into a pop tart, because she always looks tacky when doing it...

Drake realised that turning into a singer is not a good idea, but Nicki has made the mistake of thinking she can do it, and in the process has turned herself into a female Pitbull/Flo-Rida. Only half this album has the original Nicki style on it, and even in that half, only a few of the tracks are actually good imo.
