Yes I'm one. The unusual pairing of Donegal and Mayo in the All Ireland final this year... I will be cheering on The Tir Conall men ( as I'm married to a girl from the town ) but would not begrudge mayo an all ireland. They have been waiting 60 years and have endured some painfully close efforts in beaten finals since their back to back wins all those years ago.
Donegal have beaten Cork, Kerry, Down, Tyrone , Derry and Cavan.... I hope it's a good one. Kilkenny should also regain the hurling in their 'rematch' with Galway , again though , from a largely neutral viewpoint a western double would be great for the game... |

Doesn't seem to be many of our British friends interested in the old GAA but i'm sure thats because many of them don't even know what the GAA is.
Brilliant All-Ireland hurling final yesterday between Kilkenny and Galway and a replay was a fair result in the end. What I would love to do is sit down the millions of premier league fans in Britain and show them yesterdays game, a packed 82,000 capacity crowd in Croke Park, the players playing for the love of the sport, respect for tradition and not receiving a euro for it. It really would show up the premier league money grabbing players. |

I used to enjoy watching it on TV when I used to spend holidays in Cavan as a kid and would probably watch it if covered regularly here in the UK. Have relatives in Mayo so will have to be rooting for them in the final.

I have just stumbled across this documentary on RTÉ Radio 1 about the days when some of the London pubs were the only way to be able to view GAA matches Long before the days of Setanta,Premier sports or those with Sky boxes with Ireland cards

Feel for them. Watching the All Ireland Hurling final a few weeks ago was brilliant even though I didnt really care who won and it ended in a draw. One of the most exciting sports games I have ever watched.

We can get BBC Scotland, BBC London and BBC Wales here, so can they not get BBC Northern Ireland over there. They show a lot of the games.
