I love Darcey. I think she's one of the most beautiful dancers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. And of course she knows more about the technicalities of dancing than Alesha did. No-one could argue any differently. When it comes to Strictly, all I can base my opinion on is what I've seen so far. When Darcey guest-judged the other year she was far too nice. She was too accommodating, she wasn't harsh when it called for it and she gave off an air of 'don't rock the boat'. Now obviously she knows a lot more than Alesha could. But will she say it? Well, previous experience says no. Whereas Alesha did. She frequently called people out on their shoddiness with a bloshiness that surprised me at the time and I really appreciated that. I want the judges to be as honest as a tea-time dancing show will allow them to be lol. Alesha could be very honest sometimes (like with Craig what's-his-face from Corrie) and I really liked that. I hope very much that Darcey will channel her inner-Diva when judging and doesn't repeat her lukewarm fluffy bunny act from the other year.

I think most guest judges tend to be overnice (Jennifer Gray!) I hope Darcey lets show some of the steel which she must have inside.

Badger Bars, did they ever exist? Were badgers on Animal Bar? Oh oh oh, and remember Fry's Cocolate Creme with all the fruit flavours running through them. That was a top end bar.

I don't remember these Hellas bars, which upsets me because I am a greedy beggar and thought I knew em all... Are they those indecent foamed up bars with slightly salty fillings???

Are you just randomly naming things you like as you can still get most of these?

There is a difference between honest and going too far with comments - which is what Alesha did with Craig. She is entitled to that view privateley but imagine what Craig must have felt like suffering that infamous rant with his family in the audience (if they were there that is)

On the contrary, every year Alesha had one thing in common with the celebs the other judges didn't: she'd been there and of course won it. So, to say she "offered nothing" as a judge is unfair. We're watching Saturday evening light entertainment not a competitive dance festival at Blackpool. Surely we don't need 4 Lens, 2 Lens + 2 Craigs, 3 Lens + 1 Bruno or any variation thereof. As far as Darcey's concerned, time will indeed tell.

Haven't seen monster munch in years or Caramac.

And Fruit Salads are different now, they come in packets like Starburst but they're a different shape and they taste different. They're softer, old fruit salad used to crack your teeth they were so hard.

Do you think there might be regional differences? I live in South East but I am originally from Wales and I know I can get certain things in Wales that I can't get here.

I haven't seen a Caramac in about 10 years. but then there there doesn't seem to be the range of stuff in my town that there is at my mum's.

You need to move up north .

I can get Caramac and Monster Munch (pickled onion and roast beef) in my local Tesco. I have Caramac ice cream bars in my freezer at the minute. (Well one Caramac ice cream bar...)

Proper black jacks and fruit salads you can get online if you really want them. I got my brother in law "A big box of 70s nostalgia" for his birthday which included both.

And in another transparent pretence that this thread is still on topic - what sweetmeat would you compare Darcey or Alesha to?

Darcey, for me, is akin to Lindor. Fairly classy and sweet but you wouldn't want to eat the whole box. Alesha is nut brittle for obvious reasons.

I've got a friend who gets me boxes of drumsticks from the Cash & Carry but they're the long thin bars, not the actual drumsticks. They still taste fab though.

I can get 6 packs of Monster Munch from Poundland, but I only like the pickled onion and no-one else likes them so they're a waste of money. I just want one bag of pickled onion monster munch. . I can't get pickled onion walkers in the wee coloured bags any more either.

Darcey - Belgian chocolates, think they're going to be lovely, but you'd give anything for a flake

Alesha - fake, cheap supermarket chocolate

Here in the West Midlands you can definitely still get Caramac (try Tesco), Fruit Salad, Black Jacks and Monster Munch.

I do miss Old Engish Spangles, although trying to get the paper off them sometimes was impossible and it was much easier just to put the sweet in your mouth and suck off the paper bit by bit!

The shop by my hairdressers sell the different versions of Fry's Cream bars too - and Raspberry Ruffle bars.

The one thing I love and can't find are liquorice comfits. There are cheap versions around, but the proper ones are thin on the ground (you know - the ones where the red one can be used as lipstick!)

Darcey is Thornton's Continentals

Alesha is Old Jamaica

Hey - Alesha is Hellas. You get an awful lot for your money but it's pretending to be something it's not, it's a bit tacky and has a tendency to make you feel nauseated after a few pieces. But it's still bloody good value. If you like feeling sick as a dog on a shoestring.

That is the best message I have ever read! I can't stop laughing, I am crying while trying to write this. That is brilliant and so on my wavelength!
