Really disappointed, it didn't really have me hooked and its a shame as I love the premise and the trailers looked really promising, just looked a little low rent and the action scenes at the end were silly. I preferred The Event, a similarly high concept NBC drama that never really got a fair run-I'll be amazed if its renewed if it continues like that though

Watched the pilot online (link here via The Giant Freckin Robot website so nowt dodgy) and I enjoyed it. Wasnt earth shatteringly awesome but I would certainly watch the follow up episodes. A few of the characters were a tad cliched from chubby, loveable geek to hard drinking, hard ass fighting dude but I can overlook that for now. I just hope they progress the story rather than keep loadign questions upon questions upon questions.

Because it would make for a really boring show?

I agree, too many character cliches. I expected a bit more originality from the big names behind this show. For me, I need good, original character to latch onto to be able to watch a show and enjoy its story. If I don't like any of the characters, I find it a chore to watch. Having said that, I will continue to watch to see where the central mystery goes.

The pilot was OK, but we've seen it all before. I'm sure sure this will be good enough or original enough to keep my attention through all the season.

5/10

It's a riff on Jeremiah, Jericho and any number of similar shows, without being as good as any of them.

Also, marks deducted for killing off two best actors in the opening episode.

I'll probably watch more, but it needs to pick things up quickly otherwise I don't see people sticking with it for long.

The 'twist' at the end, was less of a shock and more of an inevitability.

I enjoyed the first episode - setting, characters. I did feel it was a little rushed, although I'm sure they wanted to get to the meat of the show quickly for budget issues and to pull in a good fan base.

I was turned off by the last scene. Even though I knew something like that would happen, I wish they had postponed it for a few episodes.

Plus, I can't help wondering if Abrams has any idea where to go with the mystery, or if this will be another LOST situation. (Loved LOST, but would have preferred either a better ending, or fewer plot twists that weren't straightened.)

Does anyone think it would've been better to start the show a short time (like a few weeks or months) after the Blackout instead of 15 years? The reason being that we've missed how the characters have come to grips with life without electricity and adapting to it. I think that would've been an interesting aspect to explore. Surely that's the whole point of doing a TV show with this kind of concept?

Also, I find it slightly distracting when shows (post-apocalyptic shows in particular) skip so far ahead because we've already missed so much of the characters' journeys and crucial mythology elements. I find that it takes me out of the show and I don't feel immersed in the world. Personally, I like to begin the journey with the characters from the very beginning so we can discover and learn everything with them as the show progresses. The whole Old West-type farm setting just isn't doing it for me either, though I suspect they won't spend too much time there on the show.

I'm hoping they will do flash backs to the events during and after the blackout.

It was good and worth continuing with due to its interesting concept but it was very predictable in parts. Giancarlo Esposito was great, though. He seems to play villainous figures very well.

Seems the lack of power also effected blood flow. 20 odd bodies stabbed or shot at close quarters and not a drop of blood to be seen.

Yes, I suspect there will be flashback to fill in the gaps as this is a JJ Abrams production after all. But they will only provide snapshots and not a detailed picture of how people were adapting to life without electricity 15 years ago.

But hey ho, let's see how this show progresses, shall we?
I'm hoping they step up the character development in the next few episodes, because the pilot was pretty non-existent on that front.

I thought it was OK. Not great, but not awful. It was interesting enough for me to keep watching for now.

The dad... Vala's husband from the Ori galaxy?

Yeah, but didn't FlashForward and The Event both start off very well?

Haha true. The ratings will only go down from here on in, so we'll see how fast the drop is. I'm predicting it drops to around 8 million by episode 5 and 6-7 million by episode 10.

It's also worth noting that it faced practically no competition this week.

A Hawaii Five-0 re-run on CBS, and local programming everywhere else.

I liked it.. but I'm not sure how much of that was just me seeing the ghost of Jeremiah in it... and I just got my Jeremiah dvds back from a friend, so time for a rewatch

While reminiscent of many other scifi shows and films I did actually quite like this.

Hopefully they can keep it interesting for 20 plus episodes though and we don't get too many repetitive episodes of them coming to a new settlement, solving the local problem and moving on again.

I'm curious to know what the long-term plan of the show is? I mean after the good guys bring back electricity with those magic USB things... where will the story go after that? I guess we'll have to watch more episodes to see how the storylines develop so we can judge where the long-term potential is, but at the moment, Revolution seems a better fit for a short, tight 10 part mini-series to me.
