Connecting ipad to internet through a computer.

Am at university, have no wifi in my room only an ethernet cable. A lot of my course material is avialbe for download and i thought I could load it onto my iPad instead of printing it out or taking my laptop onto campus.

Basically I'm wondering if theres anyway to set up a connection through my laptop that the ipad will accept. I've tried an ad hoc network but it just won't join, and thats as about as technical as I can get on my own so was wondering if you guys could help?

Why not just go to an area where there is wifi?

But a wifi router. Plug the ethernet cable into the wifi router. Enjoy the benefits of a wifi network.

They start at about £20 on Amazon.

The university may well have a policy that stops you adding hardware to their network.

However, I cannot believe that nobody else gets wifi. Just ask some 2nd years how it works.

Download it onto your laptop
Convert the files to pdf in the unlikely event that they aren't already
Use itunes to import and sync the pdf files into iBooks
Profit

Possibly, but they'd also never know...

If you can put up with your laptop being on when you want your ipad online then you can do it easily and for free by enabling internet connection sharing on your laptop.

Else a broadband router will do the trick.

Ain't it just plug and play with a USB ethernet adapter?

check if the uni will let you have a 4 port/wireless router in your room, if so you'll probably need to give them the mac address of the router (normally printed on the bottom of the router) and then just plug it in and away you can go and i'm sure they'll be able to recommend a few different ones
