I watch a lot of the ones which have the same format, which can feel repetitive but I enjoy the formula so I continue watching! Out of the CSIs I only really like Vegas. I have caught a few individual episodes of Lie To Me and Castle which both look quite good but I haven't seen enough to give a proper opinion. Rizzoli & Isles is quite funny. Criminal Minds is my favourite though, and if you decide to watch I'd recommend starting from the beginning and working through instead of dipping in and out so you can see their characters develop.

1) Leverage
It's light-hearted but a lot of fun. It's very similar to HUSTLE but LEVERAGE is far, far superior - at least that's my opinion. ![]() 2) Hill Street Blues This is the granddaddy of modern serial police dramas. It aired back in the 1980s for 7 seasons and it's still one of the greatest cop dramas ever. I'm glad to see someone mention WISEGUY. That show, which starred Ken Wahl, was amazing!

Not only is HSB one of the greatest cop shows ever but it also had a great theme tune. As for Wiseguy it always got a bad deal scheduling wise. In my neck of the woods it was shown at stupid o' clock in the morning |

I can't believe nobody has mentioned The Sopranos yet. Also Boardwalk Empire.
I second The Wire and The Shield. The Wire will probably take some time to warm up to, but it's worth it. |

Yes, and yet nobody mentioned it, which reminds me of something I have thought about before: For whatever reason, people don't seem to think of Breaking Bad as a "crime drama," even though it is about a man sinking ever deeper into a life of crime.

A lot of the shows mentioned are cop shows. Breaking Bad spends relatively little time showing investigations from the DEA's point of view. Apart from Hank, the DEA is mostly a distant antagonist. I suppose it ends up feeling like a different genre in shows where the criminal is the protagonist rather than the police.

Yes, and isn't it interesting that a lot of people suggested "cop shows" when the OP asked for "crime shows?" A lot of people think the two things are synonymous, but they aren't, even though there are shows that combine the two elements.
