I have a ipad at last and love it, but was wondering what is it's best use, and what the best app that you can get.

Browse the net, and work outwards from there. They can do whatever suits you best in a paradigm that involves accessing information via touch screen interface.

I use in mostly for watching videos on my commute to & from work - on an evening it'll be close to hand if I want to check emails, browse the internet

You bought one but you don't know what you want to use it for?

There's a topic a couple down from this one asking what people use their tablets for. That's a good place to start.

There is no 'best app'. You get the apps that do what you want to do on it.

You have just spent several hundred pounds on a door stop ??

Have you tried google, there are hundreds of sites with example of what tablets are useful for. You could also start here,

Battery app

Take notes by writing on the screen

Use as a satnav

Use as universal remote (needs a device to plug in)

Phone people using Skype

Iplayer

Listen to The Goon Show on the radio

That should be enough for the first couple of days.

Isn't that something that should be considered before a purchase is made?
