Mapping Network Drive Help Needed
I've 2 NAS drives connected to my router and have them mapped as drives on 2 laptops (both W7 Pro). I'm unable to map either of them on my daughter's laptop (W7 home premium). They don't show up as computers in Network as they do on mine BUT one of them has an inbuilt Twonky server which is shown under Network and if I type the IP address of either of them into a browser I can access the UI.
Any ideas please? |

Open up the run command (Windows key and R) and enter the IP or hostname of the NAS box with 2 backslashes before it. eg.
\\192.168.1.254 Then when the windows explorer box appears you can right click and choose map network drive. Alternatively you can paste the details into the drive map section as they were in the run command. |

Is the share on the NAS locked down ?
do you have matching ID and passwords on both laptops ? |

s2k - thanks for the suggestion, I'll give that a try.
c4rv - all the laptops are on the same network/homegroup and can all 'see' all the other network devices (other PCs, printer, router, TVs, sonos devices etc.). The shares on the NASs are public therefore are open. |

If you don't want the password box appearing each time then you can either map the drive using a different account and tell it to remember the connection, or give the NAS the same user and pass as the laptop. |
