I've done a very basic drawing over the new set plan to show what I mean.
The 'new' Victoria Street in red.

The factory would need to be shortened, Roy's Rolls, the kebab shop et al dropped back and the bookies brought forward to make it all fit, but this would be a great opportunity.

The MOSI facade (the thick blue line in the bottom right) could be home to shops and flats.

Quite frankly this is a MUCH better idea - there's so much scope for shop units, possible flats - even a bus shelter or two just for that added realism. I so wish they would do something like this to the new set in a few years' time - but I hugely doubt it.

Maybe you should be the set designer.

I'm thinking of all the possibilities now!

Maybe I should produce a proper design and send it in - they might still have time to alter the new set

I wonder what qualifications and experience you need to be a set designer?

That is a really good idea I wouldn't even mind it just appearing either, they could have the brewery knocked down and the factory/Kabin/garage area and turned into houses with the factory moving to the newly extended Victoria street set along with the garage and the Cabin where the brewery along with a Freshco express(Dev could buy the franchise and close his shop) was with houses or flats taking their place. Victoria street would look like a local High street then and look really realistic.

Would be a massive redevelopment but they could have it written as a storyline where the terraces are due to be knocked down too, but the residents fight that and win but aren't successful with much else and they can take down the arch, it wouldn't be that far fetched either as it happens all the time.

I think we're onto something!

I like the idea of making Coronation Street purely residential, making Victoria Street distinctly different and feeling more like a busy High Street. That said, I'd quite like the Kabin to stay where it is and I don't think that the garage or the factory would 'fit' over there

I'd like the Bistro to relocate there for definite - can't stand it being on Coronation Street.

I can definitely see a 'little Frescho' opening up, along with a more upmarket cafe offering Roy some competition. Perhaps Tracy can open a florist's shop.

i don't see where the factory would go otherwise they could get rid of the factory completely or move it off screen.

The Kabin looks really out of place to me on Coronation street.

The rovers would probably have to stay where it is. the bistro would be good on Victoria street and maybe the garage could move there, you see them in railway arches anyway.

A Costa or something opening would be good, its unrealistic that Carla would settle for a regular instant Coffee from Roy.

A rough mock up, was trying to fit the Factory in, thought maybe just behind the arch but then that would clash with the street behind. Also is there any reason the houses where put on an angle? seems really odd.

some one else could probably do better.

I really like it! I can really see some new flats fitting in quite well on Coronation Street. It's quite annoying that the tram crash didn't bring about these changes! Would've been a perfect opportunity for the Kabin, factory and garage to move and for Dev to sell the corner shop and open little Frescho's

I think it's time to say goodbye to the factory for good. Economic downturn and all

I think that the three modern houses were built at an angle to make them look bigger.

It was really stupid of them i think the tram crash was too early specially when they had a planned set move and the street recovered too quickly.

yeah its quite unrealistic, in this day and age, the whole streets economy is propped up by that factory .

there is a few, that can afford posh flats but why would they live in an area with poor access and little if any parking space the mind boggles as to why that was built.
