Zoe Ball Radio 2 Breakfast

Zoe Ball will be back on Breakfast for the first time since 1997 when she was on Radio 1 until she left the show in 2000.

Zoe will be covering for Chris Evans Breakfast Show week 24th September

Good news at last, I really do not like Ryan Turbridy so I'll certainly give Zoe a try.

That's an interesting decision by Radio 2. On the day that the new Radio 1 Breakfast show starts and the chance that loads of Chris Moyles fans will switch off, Radio 2 have a stand in on their breakfast show for the week. You would have thought that they would want Evans there to try and entice people in. Unless they are using Zoe to entice people in and then chuck Evans at them.

I think the latter may be true, but it's probably more be coincidence than design. My guess is that Chris Evans would have had his holiday booked many months ago, before anyone knew the launch date for the new Radio 1 show. Radio 1 and 2 admin probably don't liaise that much about who is on and off when.

But think of it this way. Some of Moyles' older listeners will switch when they hear Grimmy. Those same listeners are old enough to remember Zoe Ball doing Radio 1 breakfast. So it's not the worst choice of stand in.

Of course, it won't please a handful of DS posters who dislike Zoe, but thankfully that's not how Bob Shennan makes hs decisions.

Chris Evans decided that he wouldn't want to over shadow Grimmy first week on Breakfast. So he decided to take a holiday...( That was a joke. )

I think putting Zoe on Breakfast is a good move. I wonder if she'll cover Ken shows anymore as Claudi seemed to step in during the Olympics, whilst Zoe was doing other shows?

It's shows Bob Shennan likes female broadcasters. Shame Lynn Parsons could have taken on the Saturday Breakfast instead of the awlful Anneka Rice. ( She's ok, but not really ideal for that slot. )

It's a genius move, the same day at the same time that Nick Grimshaw takes over Radio 1 Breakfast then Zoe covers for Chris for a week.

Suppose you had some of Zoe and Sara's listeners that really enjoyed Moyles, now he's gone and they don't like Grimshaw so they retune to Radio 2 and there's Zoe, keeping them hooked until Chris returns.

Just hope Zoe proves to be regular cover, she starts he stint on Strictly Come Dancing the following week so she's going to be a busy girl until Christmas

An easier transition to Radio 2 for the elder end of Moyles's R1 audience with Ball at the helm for the week.

Personally, the presenter who should use these changes to their advantage is Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell who's male skewed breakfast show should attract some of those 30+ listeners.

Is she hosting ' It take two'? Claudi not doing that anymore, I know she couldn't with given birth last year.

Yes she is and Claudia announced that as far as she's concerned It Takes Two is Zoe's show now.

Whether his holiday was booked months ago or not I would be making Evans work that week. Considering Evans could possibly gain some disgruntled older Moyles fans they may very well switch to Radio 2, hear Zoe, and then go and find somewhere else. Lost opportunity perhaps? Still, if the next listening figures have Evans still flying high I guess it won't matter??

Or perhaps Radios 1 and 2 aren't that hung up about such things?

Now, if Global were launching Heart or Gold as uk-wide stations I might think about ensuring Chris Evans was working that week. But I don't think grabbing ex-Moyles listeners is Bob Shenna's top priority.

I'd imagine Moyles listeners are going to tune in to Grimshsw out of curiosity, before casting around for a different show to listen to if they aren't impressed?. Disaffected listeners will bounce around various stations until they find what they're happy with. That first week Evans isn't on won't prove detrimental.

I think Chris booked holiday for October, but might have changed it for this reason? Obviously that was a good move to do it once Moyles decided his departure date and Grimmy start date?

Great, so my only chance to enjoy R2 breakfast when Evans is on hols has been ruined. The only thing that could make it worse would be to have Feltz covering for Viney on the same day.

I’m not surprised that Zoe Ball is being given a shot at R2 Breakfast cover, but I am surprised that Chris is off again, having only been back from his 2 week summer break for 4 weeks (or just 19 shows). And also, as has already been said, that Chirs won’t be there to try and grab some of the older Moyles listeners who leave R1 breakfast when he does.

Former BBC Radio 1 Breakfast presenter Zoe Ball will cover fellow former Radio 1 Breakfast host Chris Evans.. on Radio 2 Breakfast later this month.

Zoe will present the show the same week Nick Grimshaw takes over breakfast on BBC Radio 1, adding extra upheaval to the national radio breakfast scene. But whilst speculation mounts that the holiday timings of Chris Evans are deeply thought out, we checked with the station and it appears the vacation was booked long before Moyles announced his departure date.

Zoe has been covering shows on BBC Radio 2 since leaving her regular Saturday show in January, and has just spent two weeks hosting a daily evening show with Richard Bacon

You can hear her back on breakfast from September 24th to 28th.
Yeah right - Like they would say so?

Surprised about this.
Didn't s e not want Sat Breakfast as she wanted to be at home as Norman was away and she wanted to be with the kids? Guess one week she can arrange domestic things. But still think if she had a more perm thing it would be Ken Bruces show (although with a 9.30 start, may conflict with the morning school run and Brighton to London is I guess a rotten journey in rush hour).

I found Zoe Ball on Radio 2 a very pleasant surprise this morning. I jumpoed ship from #teamgrimmy which was atrocious at best. Groaned when I my dial twiddling landed on to radio 2 and then really enjoyed it. Saying that, there's naff-all else as an option around here now Moyles has gone.
