I would have loved to be treated as a "piece of meat" as a teenager - I guess I just wasn't attractive enough.

There is a huge difference between boys and girls in this - the objectification of girls, through publishing salacious images, helps reinforce the iniquitous distribution of power between the sexes. Printing some mildly smutty pics of men or boys does not and, if the perfume ads on TV are anything to go by, with muscular, tattooed men looking confidently to camera, may even do the opposite; suggesting that as a man you can have your cake and eat it.
