Toy Story 3 will most likely be next Christmas. Up was released in 2009 and is premiering this year, so it stands to reason that with Toy Story 3 being a 2010 release it will get it's terrestrial premiere next year. It's still on Sky Movies at the moment i believe.

I think BBC1 have the rights to the first terrestrial viewing of all the Pixar films so it's likely that they'll get Toy Story 3 first.

Also, in one of the BBC's previews for their Christmas programming, I've seen clips from Alice in Wonderland and Shrek Forever After, so they'll be premiering soon too. No idea what dates they're on though.

Why would that be a problem? Have you not already seen it? Will you not be PVRing it so you can skip the ads? Is the news in the middle of the film (a licence requirement) really that bad?

You missed one out, their picture quality.
BBC, ITV and Ch 4 have HD Channels on terrestrial and Freesat, you can only get Ch 5 HD if you have a Sky HD box paired with a current Sky card.

Factor in that Ch 5's SD quality is very poor too compared to the other main channels via satellite and I tend to hope they don't get any decent films either.
Personally I much prefer to watch a good film in HD on the other Channels recorded on my Freesat PVR.

What makes you think they have a PVR?

I know a lot of people who still watch stuff 'live', personally I couldn't go back to watching TV without my hummy.

I don't know if it's because we have a new aerial, but our picture quality for 5 is fine, just as good as the others. I wouldn't mind watching films on 5, but it's such a drag. Yes I do find a break for entertainment news mid way a pain. I do PVR so I can skip ads, but what I do find 5 does that is unforgivable, is cut films to fit time slots. They do this more often and worse than any other channel. At best it's annoying, at worst it's a laughable, nonsensical hatchet job rendering a film unwatchable.

I don't know if they still do it so much, but I haven't watched a film on 5 for some time because of it.

Ch 5's SD picture quality on Freeview is actually better than on satellite. To save money 5 have crammed too many of their channels on to one satellite transponder which lowers their PQ and causes the picture to pixelate.

You are better off watching 5 via an aerial.

I stand corrected, although I was really only referring to terrestrial and satellite TV, unfortunately I can't get Virgin and even if I could I presume that there is some kind of monthly fee involved.

No sign of The Dark Knight this year.

Not that I really care, I see most films at the time or on Sky. But I thought ITV would have premiered this in the run up to christmas.

I've never seen a film cut on channel 5 for length purposes, I've even seen them sneak a shit in uncut at 1PM before

Hah! I might say there's a lot of uncut shit sneaked onto 5, if I was feeling naughty.

But I have seen films get sliced up on 5. I think I posted here somewhere the last one I saw was a while ago, and it was See No Evil, Hear No Evil. It was on after the watershed, but they hadn't cut swears out. They chopped out whole scenes and loads of jokes didn't make sense.

Maybe they stopped doing it now.

I think it was allowed to slip through because the film was a 12 (and I have noticed Channel 5 will let mild stuff like "bitch" slip through whereas channel 4 won't)

Wind Chill was shown a while back, good little film though.

Another horror film is debuting next Wednesday (9th) on Five USA at 11pm, called Secrets in the Walls. TV movie though so not holding much hope for it!
