Hello all,

Moved into my new house on last Tuesday and booked the virgin engineer to come and reconnect me for phone/Internet/TV

He came on Saturday and gave me the BaD news that the virgin connector in the living room was dead and when he check outside the cable running into the house was also dead!

He advised a "2 man crew" would have to come back after x-mass to dig the new cable into my house and set it all up.

Bit worried about it now and was looking for some advised or if anyone had had this done before?

Many thanks

Hi, there's probably nothing to worry about. In very simple terms, generally there's an "inside engineer", he stays clean and does the fiddly bits indoors and uses screwdrivers, croning tools and crimp tools then there's an "outside engineer" he's normally big and muscly and knows how to use a spade and drill .

You wouldn't want the guy with the spade to put your phone socket on and you'r be waiting all week for the guy with the screwdriver to dig your garden. Hence 2 men

LOL cheers!
Bit upset as I've been here since the 18th of Dec and nothing will be done until the 9th of Jan. I have no phone line (house has no BT's anyway) and no Internet. Luckily my tv has free view!

My sympathies, but a bad time to move house! At least you will appreciate it when you get it! Better stock up with some DVDs!

This is what happened to me. Needed a new cable to the property as it was removed from the garden when we had all it the redone years ago.
Graham is spot on.

I was lucky that the cavle was still active up until where it was cut off so he nailed a.temporary cable to.the.fence so the.unternet would work

Only 1 more day of waiting! Just to remind everyone of my poor tv coverage, I've been stuck with freeview (which ain't bad) since the 22th of dec, plus no house phone and Internet!!!!
Hopefully on the 9th the guys get this new wire installed and everything works 1st time.

That is all.
