Why are people moaning about how exploitive this show is, but obviously watching it?
This kind of show shouldn't be allowed & the people who watch (whether you feel guilty or not) are just as bad as the sick vultures producers who make it.

Uggh! Hate this show, the most patronising idea.

And IMO, even the title is indicitive of what a shallow lot we all are.

Surely all these young people deserve a 'decent' partner, rather than settling for an fellow 'undateable' as if the rest of society is too good for them.

What is wrong with it? The majority (if not all) of the people on the show seem to be of sound mind to make the decision to be on TV, I don't think anyone's been forced.

I dont think it's sick. It's showing that underneath what ever problem people have they are still, warm, caring people looking for love.Their spirit is inspiring and if even one person is less quick to judge because of it then that's a good thing.

So pleased for Brent, he seems lovely.

Is it me or did they do a follow up immediately after the episode in the first series? Why not in this one; an extra episode following up on them all at the end perhaps?

Brent and the young girl both were successfully dating two people who wouldn't be deemed as 'undateables'.

That doesn't make much sense to me. You're saying that the rest of society isn't 'too good' for them, but that they deserve someone 'decent' and not a fellow 'undateable'. So no disabled person should be with another disabled person?Anyway two of them did date your idea of 'decent'.

But not all people with learning difficulties can date neurotypicals. Michael would probably not be able to cope with a neurotypical woman.

Well, Brent had only ever had a relationship(long term) with his childhood sweetheart. He had never been in a relationship that started with someone who was new to his Tourette's, if you see what I mean.

And the girl had not so much as kissed a boy since she had her stroke and here problems with speech etc began.

I'm just watching it as I had to record it because I was at my Asperger's support group.

I could watch this type of show every day, it is great watching people with disabilities trying to get on with dating.

It's such a shame that they don't feel validated as people unless they are in a relationship, but that isn't limited to disabled people.

I disagree. I think it's a lovely programme, no-one is forced to go on it, and they are treated respectfully in terms of description, commentary etc. there is no poking fun at their problems.

Some of the people may find happiness through participating in the show, and it also raises awareness of how people with disabilities still need and want love

Correct.

There are of course specialist dating agencies for people with learning disabilities (like the one that Michael used) but that is to because people with learning disabilities are likely to be more vulnerable to exploitation than most, and also they may need chaperones etc.
