To be fair the schedules have mostly been pretty crap lately and for most there wasn't an drama alternative, except maybe the new series of "Revenge" which started on E4, which I find more entertaining, though I did record it and watched it later.

Well yes it does seem to be the right decision actually - ITV relies on good ratings for advertising revenue and higher audiences mean they are more likely to recommission shows.

I hate a story split into 2 x 1 hour episodes I have recorded it and will record the next hour and the watch them one after the other, cutting out the adverts and the usual 10 minutes of introductory title curd at the start of the second episode which will inevitably go though a reminder of what happened in the first episode and then immediately to the first batch of adverts. Two hours condensed to about 1 hour 15 minutes, because one can guarantee Lewis will be advert heavy.

I much prefer it this way as even with a recorder, two hours on the trot was far too long. But as I said, with skipping all the ad breaks it made a reasonable 45 minutes of entertainment except for that bloody music, for which that Mr Phelong is responsible.

This interview with Kevin Whately was shown on Meridian News on Monday, he talks about whether Lewis and Laura get together and whether there'll be another series

Personally, I don't like the programme being split in two. It ruins it for me. I could watch the full 2 hours and fast forward through the adverts....maybe that's why they did it???

So many of these actors try something else and their limitations are revealed. Stephen Tompkinson is the classic example. |

Not only cut in half but a DOG on catch-up. That's me out of this series.

I like the idea of splitting the story into 2 hour episodes at this time of year. Gives me something to look forward to on Monday nights during the cold, dark and horrible months of January and February.

I'm going to say hi because I think this is my first time posting in this section. Please take it easy on me.
I am so upset I love this show. It is brilliant tv that makes your think. I am of course going to miss Laurence fox because he is gorgeous but I am also wondering what both Laurence an Kevin are going to go on to do. They are both brilliant Brilliant British actors. |

Kevin said he would only continue with Lawrence and wants 2013 off work. Is getting on. There are rumours ITV are trying to persuade him to do one off specials from 2014 onwards, with or without Lawrence. |

I don't like it being split into two episodes. It's bad enough with shows over consecutive days, but after a week, it's not easy to pick up the story again, so the flow of the story is no longer smooth.

Poor, unconvincing ending - still feels like Fox and Whately are going through the motions. Hope the next batch fare better.

I noticed Leslie Vickerage had a "bit part" as Mrs Dutta in this episode. She was "high profile" at one time, (female lead in "Between the Lines") so I think we might be seeing more of her in part 2. Didn't want to give the game away suggesting that I thought she'd turn out to be the murderer. Barry Pheloung's background music gets worse each time. Constant repetitive "noodling" of not much more than four long notes. Dreadful! |

I agree. Next week I think I'll record the first part and watch it the following week before the second part.

And yes the music was a bit much wasn't it. I've never found it as intrusive as it was this evening. Had to almost mute it at one point. |
