First off this is not for shows you don't like they are a few threads about that already this is for shows you may like but do admit they are overrated.

Vicar Of Dibley I do think this show is good and really funny I have seen them all many times and own the DVD Box set.

I do think that it's perhaps one of the best things on TV in the past 20 years but when I see it get voted the 2nd best sitcom in history I really don't think it deserves to be that high up I could make a list of sitcoms I would put before it.

Pointless. If Alexander was under orders to speed up the show then it'd be a lot better than it is, instead the chit chat goes on forever, and what's with repeating everything twice The first series was a lot better for the lack of small talk due in part to having an extra pair of contestants.

Eggheads. Like the above it spends too long with boring trivial talk but it's a good show for a test of general knowledge.

I now think OFAH was overrated despite finding it very funny at times. Possibly the problem i have with it is that its been repeated to death, but i dunno its more than that. If you watch it now some of the episodes are really weak and just not funny at all, whereas others are really funny.When it was good it was really good but i think its been made into this perfect tv show and it isn't, there are other sitcoms i would pick above it like the excellent One Foot In The Grave

The Inbetweeners. It had its funny moments but it was not a lot more than the British take on American Pie.

First BIB-very true. We've seen them all dozens of times but some episodes are still laugh out loud funny despite constant repeats. The problem with OFAH is that it should have ended when they finally became millionaires.

Second BIB-great taste. OFITG I could never tire of.

Agreed. I much preferred Pointless when it was a straight quiz show and it didn't take up half the show to introduce the contestants. I still never miss an episode.
I agree with the poster who said Only Fools and Horses as well.

I thInk most of the episodes with Raquel and Cassandra onwards were below par, in fact I refuse to watch them on repeats.

Well series 6 had Cassandra and was easily the best series they did imo (the bar scene, the blow up dolls,Rodney's wedding). Series 7 was rather hit and miss and after that there were a couple of very poor xmas specials and even the 96 trilogy could have been shortened, the middle episode of that 'modern men' was more like a filler episode and was only notable for Cassandra's miscarriage at the end of the episode. After this of course we have the dreadful 2001-2003 episodes.

There were weak episodes from all the series and eras of OFAH i think though.

the office i did like it but i was staggerd at how big it became and how it made ricky gervais into a massive international star i thought it would jusy be a cult show

I'm going to get shot for this but Downton Abbey. I like watching it, it's a good way to while away an Autumn Sunday evening. But pleeeeaaaase! It's hardly groundbreaking when it comes to period dramas. There are many more better than it! But for some reason it has become the be all and end all of the period drama. Any new period drama is now always compared to it! It's infuriating.

Faulty Towers comes to my mind, it's great yeah and all that but I think it's a tad overrated..
