The ball boy has made himself look like a right idiot. Rolling around and grimacing like a girl after a little tap in the ribs.

As for Hazard - the only thing he did wrong was to do it in front of so many people. If it was done with let's say an apprentice on the training pitch nobody would be saying anything.

Indeed, it is refreshing that actually the football community here (99.9% of them) has been sensible on here where the UK media has been utterly ridiculous.

As a CFC fan, im going to try and see through the spin when next time (and there will be a next time) Suarez of Liverpool or Rooney of United basically gets slaughtered by the agenda based media. (which i have recognized and stated many times in this forum)

It IS an incident that warrants a red card, but it was done and dusted. It is not a front page story.

Me and my OH said that last night. If it had been Suarez or Rooney, it would have been over amplified as well by the media and football forums, I was expecting that on here this morning, so am pleasantly surprised.

A professional footballer acting like this isn't on; it may be true that the ballboy was hanging onto the ball, but the attempt by Hazard to kick the ball from under him was irresponsible and unprofessional. This gives out the wrong signals to young supporters who may think this is alright for them to do when they play football.

Now, that the charges have been dropped for assault, and that Hazard will get a ban anyway, I wonder how much money the ball boy was paid to drop the assault charges?

Him and his father were invited to the dressing room, met all the players, Hazard apologised, the boy apologised, it's done and dusted.

FA will decide on Hazard's ban.

I would imagine he dropped it so his own actions weren't scrutinised, timewasting, pretending to have been hurt along with his tweet boasting he would do something like that.
If he had actually been kicked , he would be on tv showing his bruise.

Ironically, i think if the media had just have reported it with a little less hyperbole and exaggeration, that Hazard and CFC would be getting a lot more pelters on here.

But it is because of the complete and utter overreaction of the media: A talk radio station comparing the incident to kicking a toddler in the face in the street etc, that i think that a sensible path has been trodden. I really think that some of the opinions in the media are bordering on being actionable.

Thank goodness this oik tweeted about his premeditated actions before he did them! I dread to think of the reaction and headlines if he had not.

It says it all when a completely partisan, anonymous banter based internet football forum is the place for sensible and well considered opinion where the tabloids and broadcast media are squeezing this story for all their greedy little mits and paid for soundbites can get from it.

Can I just say that you will find majority of Chelsea fans (that I know personally and know on Chelsea forums) do not condone what Eden Hazard did and think the red was completely fair.

But he was going for the ball, no matter how much people want to believe he wasn't, he was.

Indeed, Ray Parlour and Sam Matterface who commentated on the game last night were screaming....'he's 11....you can't do that...he's giving him a right kicking!!!' And that soundbite has been playing on a loop on Talksport...

"Charges have been dropped for assault"

err what charges?

After the incident, someone made a complaint to the police. The police spoke to all parties and that was it. NO charges, no arrest, no assault.

And yet here you are stating in writing in a public forum that Eden Hazard was arrested, charged with assault, and then the police or CPS decided there was no evidence.

You also allege that someone paid off the ball boy, and that the ball boy accepted money to drop a police investigation.

These are very serious statements you have made in public.

I'm not a massive Suarez fan, but I'd be saying the exact same if it was him or pretty much anyone. (Except Nicky Summerbee, that guy can go to hell)

I'm certainly no fan of Chelsea to say the least . But even I can see that it was an attempt at the ball. A foolish one but still an attempt.

Once Hazard get a rulling from the FA it will all blow over.

Fwiw, I don't know what the ballboy was playing at and I didn't see Hazard kick him.

Probably not a great idea to try and kick the ball out from under him but worse things happen at sea.

This culture of being determined to be offended/outraged/uncomprehending does seem childish to me. Becomes quite difficult to respect people who go down that road.

If the player had not kicked him, the ball boy's cheating would have gone unremarked and he would have got clean away with his unsportsmanlike behaviour.
And that punishment deserved to be a kick in the ribs?

Time wasting has gone on for ages, and will continue to go on. Ball boys, players, managers all time waste. Why this particualt occasion has caused such outrage I don't know.

Yes...the Moose....I am sure Durham will have a field day at 4pm today.....

Stan Collymore, Michael Owen, Gareth Bale, Pienaar to name but a few, all tweeted basically saying Hazard shouldn't have done it but it was a massive over reaction and in the heat of the moment, you just want the ball.

I think not rushing to give the bal lback if you are winning is to be expected...but to hide the ball away from the player? That isn't what a ball boy is supposed to do.

And stop with the 'deserving a kick in the ribs nonsense', it's all about intent. He was trying to get the ball, it was stupid and he deserved a red but there was no intent to cause harm whatsoever.

Hazard toe-poked the ball from under him.

Watch the clip again, its not until he complains to the ref, trying to get hazard a card, that he notices that the cameras are on him and somehow clutches his ribs, puts his arm over his eves and pretends to cry!

The statements released clearly state that there was "no injury".
