Well, well, well,

Guess what I learned today? There is no launch date for the new Multicast channels.

It's going to be a soft launch and selective roll out, like they did with the iPlayer.

I'm sure I read earlier that this had already happened and BT was contacting the lucky few who could subscribe to them?

Yes. I posted that. But I didn't know that it would be a continuous soft launch.

Whilst I agree for the most part - the main thing BT are hoping for is that with the Prem being on Sky Sports 1/2 and Vision Sport 1/2 only then people will go for their cheaper tv package without the additional Sky Sports channels.

To expand on what I said above, it as syko29793 said waaay back in this thread -

So BT will offer the new channels to Infinity users, only as each exchange becomes Openreach enabled. Hence the continuous roll out situation.

I have registered especially to have this rant, I phoned BT 2 weeks ago RE new channels. I was told to call back today and I would be able to subscribe.

I was basically told, there is no launch date, the channels arent available. They dont know when they will be, I was misled etc etc.

My BT Vision is up in May, and although I am still contracted for infinity I will be paying the extra for Sky and cancelling Vision. As soon as my infinity is up, ill move my phone and internet to Sky too.

I used to have talktalk and I thought there customer service was shoddy, but right now id give a right arm for talktalk.

OK,

I've been in contact with BT over these new linear channels. But I have been told I cannot have them yet. Ah well, I'll just have to wait.

But if anyone's eagerly awaiting this new service, or indeed demanding it, like now now now, don't hold your breath.

I'll be switching to YouView in the summer, when the new HD Sports channels launch on it, so I'm not really arsed about this until then.

The channels are available now but only if your exchange has fibre multicast enabled. BT are not promoting the channels due to the limited multicast availability at the moment. BT Customer options team are the only department at BT that can order the channels. tel 0800 800 030 option 1

No.

It would appear their plans have changed from what I was told today, by the BT Mods. And no one can order the new channels at the moment. And thats a fact. Sorry.

yes . it may say to cancel/request a mac but BT customer options team deal with lots of things and cancelation is the last thing they want you to do. They are BT retentions team and they can order the new BT Vision packages.

Look, I know you work for BT, and I'm just a customer, but I went straight to the source for this info.

And where these new linear channels are concerned, I'm good to go.

I have the correct box. I have a Multicast exchange. I have a hard wire connection from my box to the hub and I'm pulling more than the required Infinity 26Mbps.

And the answer was still no. And it may be for a while yet. Ah well. But hey! Maybe I should have just spoken to you!

I wish. lol

Cancelled

Well I called yesterday again and was told they had no idea when they would launch. I said find out or I leave BT, clearly didnt believe me so I called Sky signed up and they are coming on Monday.

I phoned BT cancellations and the customer retention were very polite unlike the the general staff. He told me linear would be launching til April/May and he said dont leave and we will do you a deal.

Too late Mr Sky is coming on Monday and ill never use BT again!

So you lost a landline, a unlimited and infinity subscriber because your staff are not trained nor are they polite.

I hope you lose many more customers, boy did he get a mouthful.

No, its because you wanted Sky more than BT.This is all fair enough, but remember when your Sky discount runs out it won't such a good deal.

You didn't get a Sky 50% discount? Are you crazy? They're giving it away at the moment -

And in case your wondering, I'm a BT customer, but I hate to see people spend money they don't need to.

No discount, but to be honest at full price it's costing £3 more than my BT

Then cancel it and then re-order with the 50% discount.

You're still in your grace period so if I were you, I'd take VisionMan's advice and cancel. You may as well get it half price if it's on offer!

I reckon you are the crap psychic (and speller too) by nailing your colours to the Murdoch mast when I predict in a few months time, BT will have in place a pretty damn good offering at a competitive price.

Is there really any need for such cliched tripe like "nailing your colours to the Murdoch mast"?

We already have an indication of BT's price points, courtesy of their relatively recent published list that included Vision prices inclusive of extra TV channels. YouView prices will be published in due course ahead of the channels becoming available. We've already discussed it on here in great depth over the past few months - an Infinity connection along with these channels and Sky Sports will take it to a very similar price point to Sky - there really won't be this massive price war with one company coming in dramatically below the other.

Exactly I'm well aware of the prices, they are virtually identical.

Difference been sky is more refined and actually gives its customers what it says it will.

Live channels, on demand, HD, sky go, all things BT don't offer for virtually the same price.

It isn't about masts, sides or teams. It's all about BT not communicating with there customers and treating us with contempt. I wanted to stay with BT I picked them, I moved to them from sky last year but I won't be taken for a ride. They have burnt the bridge!

Agreed in principle though I think there will be better retention deals and introductory offers though.
