Hi there
Have you tried "Friday Night Lights" Don't let the American Football scenario put you off. It's much more about small town America. My knowledge of the NFL is minimal but I love it. Also what about "The Good Wife" ? A legal drama where the good guys don't always win-just like real life!

The Good Wife is good, as is Damages, that really is worth a look.
Revenge is lightweight, but I enjoyed the first series.

Agree about Damages-intelligent drama. Revenge is indeed lightweight but sometimes that is exactly what you want to watch, I'm looking forward to series 2.

Have you seen revenge? It starts off good and then slows down in the middle but the last few episode are brilliant.

Yeah used watch Friday Night Lights but wasn't a fan of it. I like football but the show just didn't sit well with me, like a few other shows it felt like a chore to watch.

Revenge seems very soap opera like to me but its different I guess. I'd consider it but its going to be behind a couple shows.

I've decided to give Justified 1 season to see if its worth continuing with. I'm hopeful

I LOVE Justified. Once I had watched 4 or 5 eps, I found myself chomping at the bit, desperate for the next disk to come from Love Film!

I can recommend the Good Wife and Damages as well- very classy.

American Horror Story is also excellent. Never watched anything like it. Series 1 was fantastic and series 2 is even better so far in my opinion. Daringly different.

Well, thanks to HMV honouring gift cards, I went and bought the complete S1 - S7 boxset of The Shield, and have binged myself silly watching the whole 7 seasons over this past week.

Absolutely fantastic stuff! I was hooked right from the 1st ep of S1. I'm now still processing the finale of S7. In fact, the last 2 seasons had me holding my breath quite a lot in anticipation of what was going to happen next and how it would all end up.

I was only familiar with Walton Goggins from Justified and thought he was excellent in that. After having seen him in The Shield, I can only say how utterly brilliant an actor he is. Superb stuff.

I'm going to re-watch it all right from the beginning of S1 again.....

Your list of comedies tells me that Better Off Ted and Archer would be right up your alley.

I need a new show to watch. I've just got through Sons of Anarchy seasons 1 to 5 in 4 days (I've had days off), so I like shows like that. Bit of drama, comedy moments, crime can be involved etc etc.

To give you an idea of some of the shows I've seen/like:

Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire
The Wire
Game of Thrones
Homeland
Suits - slick legal drama
The Good Wife - another slick legal drama
Franklin and Bash - same as above, bit more lighthearted.

I like an good US legal drama.

All three are great, great characters, storylines and humour.

I like all on your first list and would add these: Deadwood, The Borgias, Pillars of the Earth.

Thanks to other suggestions here I'll be checking out Boardwalk Empire and The Shield myself

Thanks for your recommendations.

Justified I watched a couple episodes of and thought it was OK. Could give that a go but it didn't feel like a show where I thought I have to watch the next episode now.

Dexter never appealed to me but it has got great reviews/large fan base so worth a go at some point.
Definitely go for Dexter, second only to Breaking Bad in the 'OMG I did not see that coming stakes'...!!!!!

Justified is well worth watching, its gets better and better. Depending if your talking DVDs or something else then Banshee is well watching, just started in the states and there is two threads on the show - stick with the nathanbrazil one as its none spoiler at the moment - with a trailer in it.

Better off Ted is one of the best comedies I have seen in recent years, thats on Netflix as well if you subsribe.

It's not on your list so if you haven't seen The Sopranos you really should give it a shot, some of the best TV ever

Yes, excellent show (don't be put off with it being a Shonda Rhimes creation). It's like The West Wing meets 24 as you never know what is going to happen next even if it does stretch credibility at times.
