I don't mean care homes because even though children should be protected by the people in charge sadly they aren't and these kids are vunerable and an easy target for child abusers.
What at times I do not understand is how people who make child porn get hold of the children in the first place? Sadly we hear of very young children and even babies being involved in the making of these films. Where's the parent or parents of these children? They are not all vunerable young children taken from care homes surely?
Or do they trust leaving their children with people so they can either go out to work in the evenings or night's out?
Like Izzy said above its impossible to do checks on everyone your children come in contact with but you hope that teachers nurseries people who set up as private childminders are well checked out. But even at that some will slip through the net.
Then of course there are the mothers who take up with different boyfriends and leave their children with them and the boyfriends resenting their children.

Compelling stuff - particularly the bizarre nexus between Christian fundamentalists and fringe feminists in perpetuating the most extreme allegations. Sinason's involvement with fundamentalists in South Africa and beyond.

This book is useful for anyone who needs a startling, clear demonstration of the amazing ability of 20th century human beings to persuade themselves to believe firmly in utter claptrap and nonsense.
I can only hope at some future point this book may serve as a humorous reminder of the period of time at the end of this era when the credulity of human beings reached such an extreme of irrationality that we learned never to tolerate it again.

The links seem interesting, Asmo. But they are way too long and it'll take days to read all that. There is indeed exaggerations when it comes to ritual abuse and I don't take Dr. Sinason claims seriously. If you ask me, I think she needs therapy herself. Icke, I take him even less seriously, but I think he is more of an opportunist.

Three days ago I was almost sure some form of ritual abuse existed. But then I watched a good French documentary about the subject that investigates both sides of the question . They also investigate the childrens accusations. There is also an interesting debate at the end of the documentary. The end left me with a big question mark and now I'm not sure if ritual abuse does exist or not. It could be the work of extremely dedicated therapists on the subject, over-worried parents and manipulated and delusional children. Or it may exist an underground network of sadistic child abusers operating in Europe who work in "rituals" to scare children, traumatise them, and even murder some of them. IMO, it may be the former. At least I hope so.

I wish they wouldn't say such things and instead just get on and make the arrest or whatever it might be - stop talking, start doing eh? hmph. Its not nice (or right(?)) to have people speculating over such things - why take so much time? if their not sure then they shouldn't arrest him, try and gather more information/evidence or just invite him in for questioning again perhaps and if they are sure they have the right person then go for it and talk about it with the press afterwards, end of.

It feels distasteful the talk about how people will be shocked at who's to be arrested, as if its a plot twist to some movie we should all be waiting with baited breath - its real life(!).

I know people can be very different people than their showbiz personas, but he always seemed like a good guy (if a little grumpy sometimes).

A brief update on my story, for those who remember my earlier posts.

I had another call from the Met last week. The investigation into the direct complaints about JS is now too big for the Met to handle so is being passed to an overseeing body whose name I can't remember. They rang to ask for my permission to pass my statement onto the new investigating team, as well as to the BBC and the NHS who are carrying out their own investigations. The NSPCC and Child Protection are also receiving the Met's evidence but may not contact me as I was not underage when the assaults took place.
