I don't mind the odd below par episode in any series I like - I wouldn't expect excellent episodes week in, week out.
For me last night's wasn't the best - I usually love the road trips they do but, apart from the laser thing, for the rest of the US trip, it had a strange vibe about it, almost as if it wasn't intended to be as long a feature as it ended up being - it seemed a little as if they'd had to drop something from the programme, and padded it out with footage from this instead - either that, or they chopped bits out and had to use "filler" footage - can't quite explain what I mean, but something felt "off" to me. That said, I love Top Gear and choose to watch every week, knowing what to expect from it - you either love it or loathe it, I think, and it won't change; I don't understand why people who just don't like the show, keep tuning in - liking it but not enjoying a particular episode is one thing, but hating it and still tuning in each week makes no sense to me! |

I wish Hammond would stop 'ruining' road trips with his awful cars... that dreadful Porsche in the last America road trip and that hideous beast he drove last night.
The Viper is so ugly, it looks like it is permanently being driven past fairground mirrors. |

![]() The problem with the road trip is the place they went, America. They did one only a few shows back where they ended up in Bonneville that had similar scenery. I would have preferred more beautiful views and the southern part of America really isn't a pretty place. Canada or Alaska would have been a better choice. What was missing was the bickering, which is one of the reasons I like the road trips, the best thing about TG is the relationship between the three of them. That did seem a bit MIA last night. But it was still a good solid episode. |

There was a little bickering but it's always going to be harder with new cars as they can't run into the back of each other or write rude messages along the sides. Perhaps they should have hitched some caravans up instead?

Not one the best episodes but certainly still one of the BBC's best shows. I have a gathering of friends to watch each episode here in the USA. We love it.
The other BBC shows that I have found worth watching are Miranda,Call the Midwife and New Tricks. Superb. That's all.

Another good show I thought, really liked the Aston and how quick were them police vehicles on that drag track.
Also liked the shots of them racing from the lights on the Vegas strip, I like Vegas anyway so always nice to see it in a programme. |

I enjoyed Sunday's show & I've now adopted Calexico as my favourite town!!!
I bet it took the relevant powers all of 5 seconds to come up with that name!!!

It's a sensational car & you buy 2 for the price of the Aston or 5 for the price of the Lexus.

I'd still take the Aston!
I really enjoyed last night's ep, particularly the 'sabotage' of Hamster's car. Put the seats all the way back, pedals all the way forward and steal the fuses! New spin on a classic Top Gear Roadtrip prank, like putting meat in May's car before going through the wildlife reserve in Botswana. |

I assume the comments about the lovely car colours was a joke. How could you make an Aston look any worse? ![]() Another couple of things I noted I thought the musical road was playing Jingle Bells ![]() and realised from a recent advert that it's not pronounced Dacia - it's Datcha. Someone will have to tell May

I think I will stop reading this thread as it attracts the usual moaners about every episode being average and so on.
The lack of pages indicates the majority sit and enjoy it for what it is good enteraintment on a Sunday evening. These posts spoil the show for me. So what if its an average episode I think the same can be said for most TV show debates in this part of the forum. And yes the first two episodes have been just ok but it's still the best thing on TV by a mile. I say just enjoy the programme. |
