I thought it was hilarious!
Agree was really worried this was gonna be an awful wedding episode full of soppy nonsense but they avoided it and made it a funny epiosde from start to finish.

The scene with the swingers was brilliant, and Brendan's riposte of "Actually, so have I!" was definitely ad libbed and unscripted.....you could see the swingers weren't expecting it

Did they film the naked shots separately from the audience as they weren't laughing before Agnes walked into the room.

Mark, Rory, Trevor, Cathy, Dermot I just said that four posts back.
The really strange thing (that really bugs me) is that whenever Agnes talks about her children, she refers to having six, but only 5 have ever been mentioned in the show. The sixth child has never been mentioned by name though.

Even the BBC site says there are six children.

It looks like they had to set that one up with very careful camera angles and film it out of sequence with the other scenes.

That car stunt was ruined by Rory's abysmal acting.

In sitcoms, it's all about the delivery and he just failed.

There is supposedly a child called Simon who has been left out of the tv series

Right I think we have the ages now Mark took over the family aged 13 when the dad died he died 25 years ago so Mark is 38, Rory 37, Trevor, 36, Cathy 35 and Dermot is 33.

Aw, I dunno, I like Rory! And the way he got out of that car and hits the lock button on the fob among all the rubble was hilarious! I always love how Agnes always seizes every opportunity to hammer the sh*t out of him with whatever she has in her hand!

I am so gonna miss this show on Monday nights!

Another discrepancy, the family dog Spartacus was 15 when she died, but Redser brought her for the family. And he apparently died 25 years ago? Good trick!

Thanks for the link about Simon Brown, wonder what keeps him away from the family. Dermot is the black sheep as he's the one who went to prison, Agnes is broadminded to accept a gay son and Trevor the good son doesn't seem ashamed of his family. So what keeps Simon away?

In real life btw, Maria is 32 and Buster 29 (Brendan's two children).

Simon was actually in the original stage show and was played by none other than the actor who plays Buster. For some reason, the character of Simon was removed and the new character of Buster Brady introduced (possibly because they thought a gormless ex-con and scam artist friend of Dermot's had more comedy potential).

I think Simon was originally played by the guy who plays Buster now. He was a bit geeky, had an interest in the medical field, and just didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the family. Maybe they just didn't see a future with the character so didn't re-cast for it. A few of the cast now originally played other roles. I think Dermot originally played Trevor. I haven't watched the original series for a while so I'm a little rusty, but it feels right how it is now. Might dig the dvds out this week.

Cathy is 35? With the best will in the world, she looks a lot more than 35! Mind you, the others all look older than they are supposed to be too, except Dermot maybe.

Ah I just came on to ask the same question so thanks for the answer and links. Strange he hasn't been mentioned by name though at least since I've been watching anyway.

If you read brendan's book 'The Mammy' or watch the film 'Agnes Browne' there are actually 7 children, another boy Francis.

In the episode where the dog died, they said she'd been brought into the family as a pup by Redser. The dog was 15 when she died. Hate it when there is inconsitencies.

It is possible given that there is so many characters in the show that Brendan cut Simon but they could easily have bring him back as perhaps the child who flew the nest but I suppose Trevor fills that role given that he's only in a few episodes per series.

The best bit of the episode was Agnes' reaction to Mick the Dicks dad saying 'I got a huge penis' and then saying so do I.

Gary Hollywood who plays Dino is 33!! I don't know if it's because he was in Take the High Road for years, but I thought he was much older! He looks more like 43!
I was more shocked he is straight in real life! But he is lovely to talk to.
