Pacific Heights. It was lost under the hype of Silence of the Lambs but for me it's the superior thriller. Keaton's best work.

/\ Thats barking! Good pot boiler though. Schlesinger was busking it by the 90s.
Do the films have to be recent, if so I'm no help. |

Jagged Edge and Presumed Innocent are two really good court case thrillers.

Spartan. Similar to Taken but this time it's the president's daughter who has gone missing and it's up to special forces chap, Val Kilmer to get her back whatever the cost. As it's written and directed by David Mamet the script is a bit more complex than Taken with some twists and turns.

Another oldie -Charley Varrick. Walther Matthau plays a bank robber who gets into deep trouble when he robs a small town bank only to find it's got a lot more money than he expected... that's because The Mob were using it and they are none too pleased about having their money nicked.

I agree with the recommendations for Pacific Heights, Silence of the Lambs, Seven and A Perfect Getaway.
I would highly recommend two films with Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross - Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider. Both excellent crime thrillers, with lots of twists and turns and plenty of suspense. You may also want to look at the following The Usual Suspects, A Lonely Place To Die, The Bourne Trilogy, Outbreak, The Negotiator, The River Wild |

Being a Harrison Ford fan, I enjoyed 'Frantic' , 'Presumed Innocent' and 'Airforce One'.
Another older good thriller is 'The Odessa File' starring Jon Voight. |

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Misery yet. Completely terrifying.
Also, 'The Brave One', despite a ridiculously hackneyed ending, is also recommended. |

The best I have seen in the last ten years is 'Hidden'.
It's in French, but don't let that put you off. Another is the original verstion of '13 Tzameti'. Don't bother with the Hollywood remake, they toned it down for the US market. Don't read any reviews or even look on the box, it will be a huge spoil.. The less you know the better. What an third? I quite like 'Timecrimes'. Another foreign language one, but you miss out a lot if you refuse for that reason. |
