The stick bit lifts out of the ring and hook. I probably haven't explained that very well. You lift the hanger out of the wardrobe and all that doesn't come with it is the "hook" bit... so you can lay clothes in the hanger on the bed but you couldn't hook the hanger over the wardrobe door, say. This sort of thing...

E2A: ekcherly, having Googled, I see there are some that can't be lifted out of the wardrobe at all. Those would be extremely irritating.

I don't have those but I have to replace smart wooden hangers regularly as they do get... mislaid. Normally I suspect they "walk" because someone in the party takes the clothes out on the hanger and either carries them out to the car like that or folds them into a suit carrier without absorbing the fact that the hanger isn't theirs so it's not deliberate.

However, I do know of someone on another forum who had to replace all the wooden hangers in her wardrobes - not only had the wooden hangers all been taken but her cheapskate guests had left a jumble of their own wire hangers so it was clearly deliberate.

Louis is going to be just a tad on the irritating side this week, I think...

And any of you that stay at b&bs regularly... do you expect to be offered a fish dish for breakfast when staying in a 65 - 70 a night room?

Hoppy... all you really missed this weekend was a flock of seagulls...

(t'wasn't me, honest )

The hotel I stay at in Blackpool has tiny bath towels, they barely go around me, and I'm a size 8.

That used to be me until my neighbour once told me that she knew when I was trying to decide what to wear in a morning when she heard the jangle of wire coat hangers - I got rid of them immediately! How annoying that must have sounded. All my hangers now are padded or posh wooden ones.
Interesting to hear how you remove those 'fixed' hangers as I have always found them annoying too.
Ha ha! That made me laugh!

Andrea, by coincidence there is someone called Lizaj on Digital Spy (from the same area as Gillian above). Wonder if it is the same person? Anyway good luck to you and dont worry about the `cyber warriors` out there, nothing better to do than be typically British and slag someone off.

This has been posted about me on the Facebook page and I wish to state I am not Gillian, my facebook page gives my real name and I do not use psuedonames. I think that if my posts are checked that people will see I have made some positive comment about th lady concerned even if I find the raffle a little strange.
Huh? How frustrating for you lizaj.I've seen your posts about Andrea and remembered them, particularly because I have agreed with much of what you have said.As B&B hosts, if I were a guest at Northrise, I feel she would be in less of a state than she seemed to be whilst filming and be fine. I really liked her B&B.

As for last night, didn't like the B&B, although thought it seemed like good value. I think a decent towel is part of the service, myself and Oh dear Louis.

I can understand people trying to make connections but it's a false one. This is the problem with the social media and people adding the proverbial numbers together and I could have left it but just to let people know there are 2 and more people in our town I'm a bit touchy at the moment as I am going through something a lot more serious so like my present situation I wanted the truth out!

A problem with homosexual guest house owners? Not in the least,
I'm just puzzled as to why C4 feel the need to feature ONE gay couple in each weekly line up recently

A persons/couples sexuality is surely irrelevant to the format of the programme, so to feature one such couple each week smacks of tokenism
There are a disproportionate number of gay contestants on CDWM too, but I'm sure that's down to who actually applies to go on these programmes rather than tokenism.

But really, who cares? Like you say, sexuality is irrelevant in this context.

I know myself and if it had of been me, I would have told myself it doesn't matter, while actually in reality it would niggle me all day, until I am so fed up, I would probably say more than I intended after stewing and totally balls everything right up and have to undergo a change of identity. No, better to sort it out at the time.

BIB Not nice, hope it gets resolved.

It's incredibly irritating - I feel your pain. Lots of this kind of idiocy usually goes on in the Coach Trip threads - I avoid them now.

Sorry to be OT but I can't understand why someone would want to try to make a connection. The person has asked me to remove my post and then said he'll remove his accusation but what does it matter..I have cleared up the matter by responding!

Oh and back on topic. I like the contestants this week but I do think Louis is the one to suffer from foot-in-the -mouth and editing this week. I like the gay ladies but then I like ink! I haven't got any tats as I think it's daft on a skin that is wrinkling as we speak

Exactly. It's all down to the people who apply to appear on this programme and others like CDWM and Coach Trip. It looks rather odd for someone to post just because they choose gay and lesbian people to appear on these shows.

I do think hospitalty attracts more than an average number of gay people. Also it's sometimes the fact it's self employment, being able to be your own boss. I am well aware that not all gay people are camp or flamboyant..I don't go in for stereotyping....but I can walk into any number of restaurants, cafes, bars and B&Bs in my town and over the river in Blackpool and probably and meet a higher proportion of openly gay and lesbian people than I might in other professions. Hence....

Kedgeree (haddock & rice dish) certainly used to be all the rage back in Poirot & Marples day - maybe its gone out of fashion now Agatha Christies' hung up her sluthing hat

Arbroth smokies are also a breakfast haddock dish - especially in Scotland. I'm sure Micheal Portillo had some the other week when swanning around the Scottish East coast. Smoked haddock is a bit less 'in yer face' than kippers.

Looks like Coffee-gate turned out to be a damp-squib after all

Is this the first time we've had some Lovely Lesbian Ladies on fiab? I can't recall any before?
I had lovely Jersey creamy porridge and kippers on my last day in a hotel in Jersey and enjoyed it more than my previous 'Full English'.

I would love to try Arbroath Smokies too. I wouldn't expect fish on a standard non-Scottish B&B menu as a rule although I expect there are a few who might serve kippers if asked. Easier than making a fry-up after all!

That's a good point. Also airline stewarding which may/may not come under the hospitality banner.

I'd say the same thing, for now at least, am just a bit wary of the programme throwing us a curved ball on day one.
Several people who seemed really likeable on the first episode went downhill as the week progressed.

Tonight's episode guide says

The competition moves to the Royal Sportsman Hotel in Porthmadog, north Wales, owned by Louis and Vicky Naudi. However, some of the guests are underwhelmed on arrival and the afternoon activity of slate-splitting causes a battle of the sexes

Windmill Cottage seems very pleasant, even though breakfast was a bit basic.

This week's lot look like another amusing bunch - alas, I think the men are over-doing the alpha male routine and subsequently coming across as a pair of peni: possibly they feel slightly threatened being surrounded by so many women and are therefore over-compensating.

Yes, the b&bers aren't always what they seem on the 1st day.

Battle of the sexes tonight. I know who I'm supporting!

Just to explain, my original post where I used the smilie was nothing to do with sarcasm towards the proportion of any social group appearing on fiaB, it was simply a light hearted dig at the way C4 feel they should include the obligatory ONE same sex couple each week.
As has been mentioned, perhaps a disproportionate amount of applicants fall into this category and the producers decided the best way to include them in the show would be to feature one gay couple per week rather than mix it up a bit.

I have to admit those sort of hangers irritate me too, not something I would complain about though as I see why they use them, i just find them a bit fiddly but getting used to them now as most places have them. The small towels would be more of an issue, I am not large but do like to be able to wrap myself snugly in a bathtowel.

Sheets wouldn't be a problem although I do prefer cotton. Its pillows I have a problem with they are usually to hard for me, I take a soft pillow with me everywhere I stay especially Turkey they are rock hard there.

Quite like the two girls this week, not over keen on the others but we shall see as the week progresses i might change my mind. Louis is annoying, I have only just watched the episode with Julian in so I can see similarities, maybe he will shoot himself in the foot too.

Congrats to Hoppys OH, My 60th is in October, missed out on still being able to retire at 63 by 6 months so have to work until 64 1/2. Miffed about that I wouldn't have minded if it was just the 6 months extra.
Do you get screwed by not getting the new increased pension too, when it is due? (Think there might be a revolt about it).

Sorry this was off topic, I promise never to do it again.

It feels that way. Daren't say anything off topic, it might set someone off crying.

I spent 3 weeks on the big brother boards deflecting subjects and stuff and nobody batted an eyelid. Oh well, takes all sorts.

They are good, we now have 3 regulars. 2 of them are not much bigger than cubs. Not sure how they will get on without us whilst we are away near Blackpool, where they feature a lot of B+Bs on 4 in a bed.
